Speaker 1 00:00:26 Ladies and gentlemen, degenerate of all ages. Welcome to Tailgate and Tallboys. Wait,
Speaker 2 00:00:33 We started?
Speaker 1 00:00:34 Yeah. Is it?
Speaker 2 00:00:35 Fuck yeah, we're
Speaker 3 00:00:36 Rolling man. Josh, we're
Speaker 1 00:00:37 In it. How, uh, how's the tour been going?
Speaker 2 00:00:39 What's
Speaker 1 00:00:40 That? How's the tour been going so far?
Speaker 2 00:00:41 Tours been great. Uh, we're, we're three shows in. Um, you know, we got a little stop here today at tailgate. First time tailgate. So,
Speaker 1 00:00:48 Bloomington, Illinois, baby
Speaker 2 00:00:49 Dude, it feels good. It feels the weather's nice. Yes, the scenery's great.
Speaker 1 00:00:54 It gets a little chilly at night, but you just gotta find someone to keep warm with, you know?
Speaker 2 00:00:57 I think you guys are probably no problem with that, right? Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:01:00 Well, I mean, we have some problems, but not as much as we used to. You know, <laugh>, Matt's doing good now. He's got a girlfriend. Yeah,
Speaker 2 00:01:06 Dude, I'm proud of you. I'm
Speaker 3 00:01:07 In a whole different, whole different world from where I
Speaker 2 00:01:09 Was. I know. I saw you walking in the Gulch she other day. Yeah, I know,
Speaker 3 00:01:11 Dude. I'm like basically living in the Gulch now. Yeah. It's pretty wild. I was like, I would never know.
Speaker 2 00:01:15 We should talk about
Speaker 1 00:01:16 It. It's fancy. How
Speaker 2 00:01:17 Does it feel? It
Speaker 3 00:01:18 Feels good, man. Yeah,
Speaker 2 00:01:19 The pool
Speaker 1 00:01:19 Feels good. Hey, wait, we were in that pool.
Speaker 3 00:01:22 Yeah, I've still, I've been in that pool, man. I hung
Speaker 1 00:01:24 Out with Josh Ross in a pool till six in the morning.
Speaker 2 00:01:26 You know, I need to talk about the pool <laugh>.
Speaker 3 00:01:29 Good time. Hey,
Speaker 1 00:01:30 We'll just leave it at that. Yeah.
Speaker 3 00:01:31 But no, this, this festival's been awesome. This is our like, kickoff to festival season with Ray Rowdy. We're gonna be going to a few of these this year. Um, and the vibe's just been great. I can't wait to watch you guys kill it. It's exciting on stage. Very exciting, dude.
Speaker 1 00:01:42 Crowd's been freaking stage. It's insane.
Speaker 2 00:01:44 Crazy. And like, that's the, like the small stage is massive. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:01:49 There's a, the little
Speaker 2 00:01:50 One
Speaker 1 00:01:50 In the big boy.
Speaker 2 00:01:51 Very big. So,
Speaker 1 00:01:52 Dude, it's crazy out here. It's flat too, which is great.
Speaker 2 00:01:54 It's, how many people do they figure are here?
Speaker 1 00:01:56 I think they said like 30,000 people
Speaker 2 00:01:58 Over the weekend. Yeah. That's crazy. Which is amazing.
Speaker 1 00:02:00 That's wild.
Speaker 3 00:02:01 Yeah. It's, it's been, it's been awesome. Have you done a lot of festivals like this? Do you guys have the big one? Was it Boots and
Speaker 2 00:02:05 Cards? Yeah, boots and Arts One in Canada. I've done, uh, trying to think. Uh, we did Country One of the Country Thunders. That was cool. Uh, that was my first time actually in Arizona. That was, that was pretty neat. But no, I'm looking forward to this. I mean, I love the Tailgate folks and, and, and Wayne and his whole crew of people. So, dude, they're great. They're, they're a good vibe for sure. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:02:23 We're big fans. It's funny too, like when we were like looking at this lineup before we were like in with them, we were like, honestly, this looks like we booked the festival. Cause it's like, you guys, Lakeview like so many people that we mess with, especially in the openers,
Speaker 2 00:02:36 I always joke with Wayne, I'm like, how are you running a festival? <laugh> like, you know, he's such a smart business guy, but he's also the guy that like, just will shoot the shit and it's so awesome. Yeah. You know,
Speaker 1 00:02:45 Very fun. Likes the
Speaker 2 00:02:46 Party. Yeah. So it's, it's, it's cool to see. No, I, I, I think the vibes are great. I'm excited. And I think it's, you know, Nickelback, tonight's gonna be off like, so sick, so
Speaker 3 00:02:53 Yeah. You've had the opportunity to see that quite a bit's crazy. Recently. Crazy. And growing up as a, as a Canadian native. Yeah. A guy that grew up listening to Nickelback, like in our age group. Like, I remember Nickelback being some of the first shit I heard cuz we're about the same age. Yep. Like that record came out early 2000. It's crazy. What's it been like now you're on tour with these guys, Chad and those guys are boys of yours? Yeah, like on the same
Speaker 2 00:03:10 Team. I mean, he's been, he's been so good, like, even Braley, but, but Chad's been so good to me and I feel like maybe he sees parts of himself in me a little bit too, which has been really, you know, just awesome and yeah. Uh, you know, letting me experience things that I've never experienced. And, you know, you let me fly with him the other day, which was just like crazy and
Speaker 1 00:03:27 So crazy. Uh,
Speaker 2 00:03:29 And then just, but the cool part is like watching the show and the show itself is just so good and he's actually so freaking good. Like, his voice is so like big and, and full and, um, you know, it, it's been really cool to see that. And then also just like how he handles like a crowd and, and whether it be like getting the crowd engaged or it'd be like, you know, there's one night somebody I think threw something up on the stage and just seeing him like hold his composure and how he like dealt with those situations. I was like, this guy's badass.
Speaker 3 00:03:55 Like,
Speaker 1 00:03:56 It's amazing man. That's, that has to be cool. There's Hasting shout out to Hasting Live Oak. Let's go Nashville, Tennessee. God bless you
Speaker 2 00:04:02 Up. That's where it all started. <laugh>.
Speaker 1 00:04:04 That's it. Um, we're, uh, we're stoked to see you out here, man. Like, it's, it's great to see like folks that we love like starting to like really fucking do the thing. Yeah. It's
Speaker 2 00:04:13 Cool. No, it's
Speaker 1 00:04:14 Been, and you on this Nickelback tour is like, like a catapult
Speaker 2 00:04:17 Man, dude. Yeah, it's been amazing. It's, it's been really cool. I mean, I, I just feel like I'm learning so much, you know, quick, but, but in, in such great ways and, you know, still trying to write a lot and work on work on the next stuff, so. Yeah. Um, yeah dude, I'm just, I'm just really excited and obviously just blessed for the opportunity, so.
Speaker 1 00:04:33 Yeah. Have you had any like, pinch me experiences like that you've got experienced so far? So,
Speaker 2 00:04:37 Yeah. I mean it's crazy. Like one, like you couldn't even have told me that I was gonna do this for like a living Yeah. <laugh>. And then to say like, okay, and the band that you listened to growing up you're gonna go on tour with. And then to really top it all off is like, it was so crazy. It was like three days before our first show and, uh, like Steve Rolls what got me into country music as a kid. I was like four years old, five years old. Like, I was up on a stage like singing around along to Copperhead Road and Chad messages me and he goes, what do you think about covering Copperhead Road every night together? And I, and I was like, I thought he was pulling joke on me cuz somebody told him that. Like, that was my favorite song. Yeah. And he was actually being dead serious. So the last three, you know, three nights, uh, with Brantley we get up there and and sing copywriter roads. That's been wild, man.
Speaker 3 00:05:20 That's been speaking of things that are, that are wild. You're doing something not too long from now, making your grand old Opry debut son. How's that? What's that been like? So to think about, bro, cause we were there when, when Lee Bryce invited you. Yeah,
Speaker 2 00:05:32 Yeah, yeah. We so cool around. Yeah, dude, it's, it's really like, you know, the Opry is just such a special place in country music and um, you know, a lot of my idols have, you know, played there and stepped there. But I think really what's really important for me that, you know, that that weekday will be just all my family's gonna be there. Uh, you know, my, my grandpa's a huge, huge like country music fan and, uh, you know, plays guitar and, and for him the Opry means so much and it almost like, as much as it's so rewarding for me, I think it's really rewarding for like all the people that have been part of it Yeah. For me. So yeah.
Speaker 1 00:06:05 Man moments are more special when you get to share 'em with the people that are special to you.
Speaker 2 00:06:08 Oh yeah. And I, you know, there's years where like, you know, people were probably like, what the heck are you doing? You're like, you know, even myself, I'm like, you know, you have your doubts and your moments and I, you know, not that I still, you know, I still do and, and um, you know, it's really cool to like bring my family and my close friends and you know, like you guys and like, stuff like that being at the show, I mean, your guys' rounds and stuff like that were literally the stuff that like started my stuff. Like, well,
Speaker 1 00:06:30 I mean, do you've been kicking ass before you were even in town? We're just excited to be a part of it, man.
Speaker 2 00:06:34 No, I mean, but the song like, you know, songwriter rounds and, and just the networking. I think people forget how much like you guys do for the networking community in Nashville, you know, like that. I wanna have met all the people I wanna have met Chief and you know, my management people. Like if I didn't go to those kinds of things, so's
Speaker 1 00:06:50 Cool. Well man, we uh, we appreciate that. But like, I mean, the day I met you was pretty crazy at Rowdy Rob's house with Mason and Yeah. God, you all was there
Speaker 2 00:06:59 Rob?
Speaker 3 00:07:00 I wasn't at that. Yeah, I wasn't at that. You
Speaker 2 00:07:02 Weren't? What was the the dude from bars was a bar stool. Uh, it's the big, the uh, bigger guy. Was it
Speaker 3 00:07:07 Boogie? Was it Glen Ball?
Speaker 1 00:07:09 Boogie's not a bar stool. He's like one of Luke's good buddies. That's
Speaker 2 00:07:12 What it was. Yeah. I thought there was some bar stool there dude for but no, that was, yeah, that was crazy. I mean, again, like I'm sitting in a living room cuz Cameron, Marla was like, you wanna go watch Sunday football? And Yeah. You know, it's Rob Wilford and, and then yeah, I met you guys and yeah, everybody's smoking weed out on the patio and dude,
Speaker 1 00:07:28 That's how Nashville is man. It really is. Like, and that's the coolest part about it, is it really is a community. Yeah. And you get to like, meet people that you won't forget for the rest of your life. That's
Speaker 2 00:07:37 Crazy. How
Speaker 1 00:07:38 Would your pup,
Speaker 2 00:07:39 He's uh, he'll be three in September. Pax come say Hi buddy, come here. It's
Speaker 3 00:07:43 A good boy. What a
Speaker 2 00:07:44 Good boy. He's, uh, enjoying festival life. Yes. Figuring it all out. He's like, is different. He's got to come on the bus, which is super cool. And
Speaker 1 00:07:50 That's amazing. He's
Speaker 2 00:07:51 Learning
Speaker 1 00:07:52 What kind of bus you got. Yeah.
Speaker 3 00:07:53 Tell us about the bus. It's
Speaker 2 00:07:54 A little older,
Speaker 3 00:07:55 But it's good. What, uh, what bunk are you in?
Speaker 2 00:07:57 I actually have my own bedroom in the back. Oh
Speaker 1 00:07:59 Wow. You
Speaker 2 00:08:00 You got this dude. I got treated very good. Yeah. I think we're gonna have two buses, like through the tour, but, uh, yeah, we're starting with this one and I'm getting spoiled off the top.
Speaker 3 00:08:08 Dude, that's awesome.
Speaker 2 00:08:09 It's pretty sweet. I mean, it's a little old. I think it's like an oh eight, but dude, I'm not complaining. I, I've done the sprinter thing and the van and the sleeping in the car and Yep. I'm just happy to have a bed, so it's great.
Speaker 1 00:08:19 Oh dude, that has to be a blessing. We are sleeping out here in our tents, but we're honestly happy to be here too.
Speaker 2 00:08:24 Did you put like a, like a blow up mattress in there? We
Speaker 1 00:08:26 Got these sleeping pads, uh, from climate, uh, so these chairs were in? Yeah. Or gci. Dude, these are sick. And those coolers are, uh, Orca and then climate is the, the tents and dude, they gave us these sleeping pads too. They're pretty good.
Speaker 3 00:08:40 Yeah, they're not Sounds
Speaker 2 00:08:41 Like it's like a foam. Yeah,
Speaker 1 00:08:42 They're like a twin size and they roll up real nice. Right, right. So honestly, like I feel it's superior an air mattress just cuz like, you know, an air mattress like deflates. Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:08:51 You don't have to worry. You don't have to worry about it. Yeah. Dude, look at this thing rolling by.
Speaker 3 00:08:54 Yeah, dude. The truck show. There's so many, there's
Speaker 2 00:08:57 Like a lifted
Speaker 3 00:08:57 Dude. So Bailey's side by side. Bailey's truck is the one by the big stage. Yeah. That white truck on the left, he was saying that last cool last night, which is the truck show element of this thing just makes it like a redneck cool circus, bro.
Speaker 1 00:09:07 Yeah, I love it. The campers are all super nice. They were yelling at us, we're trying to make 'em party at noon and we were like, I mean, you should party all day,
Speaker 2 00:09:14 You know? Yeah. Yeah. It was crazy. <laugh>. Well, I'm sure we'll be partying, uh,
Speaker 1 00:09:19 All night
Speaker 2 00:09:19 Tonight For sure. I mean, I got two days off, which I'm super
Speaker 3 00:09:22 Excited. Oh yeah. Where are you guys off to next? Do you guys, are you guys with the Canadian lady?
Speaker 2 00:09:26 I, we go back, we go back and do I think Saskatchewan, uh, Calgary, Vancouver, and then we go back down to um, la We start in LA Yeah. Yeah. So
Speaker 3 00:09:37 It's cool.
Speaker 1 00:09:37 It's all Warren siders over there warming up, I guess somebody's
Speaker 2 00:09:40 Warming up.
Speaker 1 00:09:41 He canceled it on us three times for the podcast. So thanks for never doing that <laugh>. Dude.
Speaker 2 00:09:45 I, I'm not here to cancel. Try not to. Anyway. Even
Speaker 1 00:09:49 Doing it out here in the field, baby,
Speaker 3 00:09:50 What's, what's it like now too? Um, cause from when we did our outside the Round Pod or in the round pod back in Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:09:56 Man, that was a while ago.
Speaker 3 00:09:57 A lot of shit has happened. Yeah. One of the things also being, you've had songs now at Canadian Country Radio and you're about to have trouble going, dude, it's, it's there. American Country Radio. That's huge, dude.
Speaker 2 00:10:07 It's crazy. I think, I think we had, like, we are the second most added, or our first most added last week at, at, uh, dude that's so great Country radio in the US and dude, it's so, so crazy that that trouble song, I mean, I just, I absolutely love it and it, it's so good. It's been cool to like see that song kinda do its thing and Yeah. Dude, a lot's changed. Personal life's changed. Yeah. Same. You know, um, I keep thinking I have it figured out and then I don't <laugh>.
Speaker 1 00:10:30 As long as you keep knowing that you don't, you'll be fine.
Speaker 2 00:10:32 Yeah, exactly. Like that's
Speaker 1 00:10:33 Really what it's
Speaker 2 00:10:34 About then you're not surprised. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:10:35 You're like, yep. Yep. We're still figuring it out.
Speaker 3 00:10:37 Yeah. You've, you've written a lot, a lot of you, the songs that have been coming out on this, on the projects, you've been working on all that Right? When Mason Thornley. Yeah. How did you and Mason first get connected? Because I feel like there's, there's a lot of like, artists writer duos Yeah. Out there. Like you think of like Dallas Davidson and Yeah. And Luke Comb or, um, and, uh, Luke Bryan and Yeah. You think of like guys that write with Luke Combs and stuff. Like how'd you get linked up with Mason?
Speaker 2 00:10:59 Yeah. I like when I first started coming to Nashville in 2018, um, Craig Bates, uh, who's a songwriter in town and Yep. Uh, he had set a bunch of rights for me, uh, in Victoria Goodman, who's, uh, she's over at, um, wide Open. Yep. And, uh, she, uh, she had, I think my second or third Right ever was with Mason and we wrote a song called Love Never Look Like Us, which was actually like on my very first like little like EP project mm-hmm. <affirmative>, which I can't believe is still up, but it's okay. Uh, and then, yeah, I think we just hit it off and, and you know, I've definitely gone through a lot of seasons of like, relationships and, you know, I was always the guy in relationships growing up and then, you know, learning to like be single a little bit and then try to still be in a relationship and then, you know, I've been kind of like balancing that and, and I think, I think he's just spent the most time with me and really got to like, see me through those moments and, you know, not being good and getting in trouble and getting kicked outta bars or get, you know, like Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:11:55 And, uh, I think he just can, we just really can relate to each other. So it's been, uh, it's been really cool, I think. Yeah. He's on my last, I think he's, I think Red Flags was his fifth single in a row. He is. It's been on so awesome. Yeah. So it's awesome. And I mean, um, the next one's coming out he's on also. Yeah. So, uh, it's called Ain't Doing Jack, uh, comes up July 14th. Hell yeah. So yeah. Can't
Speaker 3 00:12:15 Wait for that man. Yeah. We've seen you play that. Um, we saw you at, um, at CMA and then we saw, I think I saw you play that at at West. Oh,
Speaker 2 00:12:22 That was the audio day.
Speaker 3 00:12:23 Yeah. Dude. Hey, I gotta say you honestly, that's, we handled that really well as a guy who's been on tour for a while and been to all kinds of scenarios, dude, you never know what you're gonna get. Yeah. That was you and the boy, you and the boys got through it and gave the crowd. It
Speaker 2 00:12:34 Was great of a show. We, we made, we made it through. And so, I mean, shout out to like even the C Mazo like CMA fest. Like that's, that is so much stuff to, to do. Yeah. Like the line checks and everything. It's just, I couldn't imagine. Oh my God. Is that
Speaker 3 00:12:47 Wayne? That is Wayne. Yeah. Wayne. Oh, he is
Speaker 2 00:12:52 Austin. He's probably already feeling good.
Speaker 3 00:12:53 Wayne and Austin. Oh dude, they're having, we should have Austin come here. This is the final day too, so. Oh, dude. Doug and saw boy's Saturday. Is this the lab? This is the last day, dude. Dude, we have been in this campground since Tuesday night. Oh, my Tuesday night. Austin and the folks came over. They here till 4:00 AM
Speaker 2 00:13:05 There's not a Sunday.
Speaker 3 00:13:07 No. Cause it starts, it's a Wednesday. It's Saturday, Wednesday. Three artists and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Full throttle. Think it's
Speaker 2 00:13:11 Wild. Wild, wild.
Speaker 3 00:13:13 Wayne, we get
Speaker 2 00:13:14 Wayne over. Wayne.
Speaker 3 00:13:15 Come on. Come on over up.
Speaker 2 00:13:17 Come sit down.
Speaker 4 00:13:20 Take
Speaker 3 00:13:20 A seat. We got the legend.
Speaker 2 00:13:21 Ladies and gentlemen. Uh, the tailgate, tallboys Festival. Mr. Wayne.
Speaker 4 00:13:26 Fine sir.
Speaker 3 00:13:28 How
Speaker 2 00:13:28 Are you brother's? Going on. Good to see you. Welcome. This is Paxton. I'm excellent. Um, we we're just complimenting you and Oh yeah. Cruisin and the opportunities to play. And now we're here.
Speaker 3 00:13:38 Dude, this festival's been awesome, bro. Crazy. This festival's been been sick. How are you, how are you guys feeling about it?
Speaker 4 00:13:44 Oh dude, we're, we're stoked. This is, this is gonna be a day today.
Speaker 2 00:13:49 It's gonna be wild. You
Speaker 4 00:13:49 Got rock stars
Speaker 2 00:13:50 Today. It's gonna be cool. I'm excited. What time play excited you play Josh? Uh, we're on a five. Five. Yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. So it's gonna be well for
Speaker 4 00:13:56 Uh, oh, for sure.
Speaker 2 00:13:57 It's gonna be good.
Speaker 4 00:13:58 You front and center watching that one. Oh, I gotta speak in the mic here.
Speaker 2 00:14:03 Like get closer to your mouth.
Speaker 4 00:14:05 Closer. I like it. Like, closer.
Speaker 2 00:14:06 Closer. Even
Speaker 4 00:14:07 Closer.
Speaker 2 00:14:07 Closer.
Speaker 4 00:14:07 This is Jesus,
Speaker 3 00:14:08 Man.
Speaker 4 00:14:08 Whoa. You need to ground this thing. Just
Speaker 2 00:14:11 Kidding. No dude, this is great. This is cool. Perfect,
Speaker 4 00:14:13 Perfect weather today,
Speaker 2 00:14:14 Dude. Great. Trying to wander around a little bit. Take it all in. And so
Speaker 4 00:14:17 How's, how's the party been out here?
Speaker 3 00:14:19 Party's been good. We've had some 4:00 AM nights. I know last night y'all had a good time. Um, everybody's been, it's been been a blast. Dude,
Speaker 2 00:14:27 You go golfing today.
Speaker 4 00:14:28 I, uh, did not, I just dropped off Simon in chief to the course and um, Bailey's heading there now. Awesome. So they're playing. I'm, I I'm too busy to play golf. Too
Speaker 2 00:14:38 Busy. Yeah, today. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Crazy.
Speaker 3 00:14:41 Yeah. What, what was the final count for, for this year? Cause I've, like how many people you guys have coming out to this thing?
Speaker 4 00:14:46 It's, oh, I know March counts. You know, that's an Austin question, but, uh, that's above my pay grade <laugh>. It's
Speaker 2 00:14:51 About my pay grade.
Speaker 4 00:14:53 I'm guessing. We'll probably, we'll probably bust over 15,000 tonight. Probably between 13 and 14,000 last night. That's just my guess. Yeah. Just looking at the crowd. Yeah. It's a little deceiving. Just cuz we had the seven 50 stage this year, so it's hard to, comparatively to last year, you know, we had the 5 75. Wow. You know, it's, that's twice as big. The is massive when you see people around it. I mean, look how, look at the big trucks next park to the stage. Oh yeah. You know, they're, they look like little Tonka trucks. It's so, wow. That's just me guessing. I haven't got final counts at all from the box office, but, but
Speaker 3 00:15:23 Dude's been sick. I mean, you've been, you've been out in the festival, started getting out and we've got Josh playing more
Speaker 2 00:15:28 Of these things. Dude, you tell it's done right here. Just like, even like the catering, the food, the, the hangout. Hell yeah. It's good. I'm excited. Played Pickleball yet. I have not No, tonight I know is gonna be very interesting. So it's gonna be good.
Speaker 4 00:15:38 Oh, tonight's gonna be wild <laugh>. I mean, when Josh and I get together, I mean, we do some stupid shit. Yeah. This is very
Speaker 2 00:15:43 True.
Speaker 3 00:15:43 So you, so you played up at Cruisin or how'd you guys get
Speaker 2 00:15:45 Together? That's how, that's how we met. I actually opened for Bailey, uh, cruise Zone. I think it was like January or something like that. Or was it in the fall? Uh, yeah, it was like January, February. This
Speaker 4 00:15:54 March, right? March.
Speaker 2 00:15:54 Yeah. Somewhere in
Speaker 4 00:15:56 There. I think it was March, but it was maybe, no, it was,
Speaker 2 00:15:59 I I have to actually like say too, like, that room feels so good.
Speaker 4 00:16:03 You killed it.
Speaker 2 00:16:04 It was so much fun.
Speaker 4 00:16:05 We had the same hat on. That's why we, we talked to each other. We still have the same hat on right now. Do we? Nice. <laugh>. You say tailgating. Tallboys on it. No, yours a special. What's up? Austin Didn't get you one of these hats. Dude,
Speaker 2 00:16:16 I just got here. Slack. Look at him. He's eating outta the barbecue. Hey, great job watching my dog is he eats all the grease off the grill. <laugh>. That's our tour manager. Wi so
Speaker 4 00:16:26 Welcome man. This is exciting. I'm pump, this is what I love. I like, I love to see the artist play cruising stage and then we rip him to the festival and Yeah,
Speaker 2 00:16:33 It's gonna be good.
Speaker 4 00:16:34 We'll get you on that big boy. Hopefully we'll see ya in the next next years
Speaker 2 00:16:37 I'm hoping. Yeah, I Tonight's gonna be fun. We'll see. Uh,
Speaker 4 00:16:40 How's the Nickelback tour?
Speaker 2 00:16:41 It's been great. Chad's been so good. We've been actually doing a song kind of every night together, which has been Oh, sick. Wild. So we'll see if that happens tonight. That
Speaker 4 00:16:47 Can be a surprise. We'll
Speaker 2 00:16:49 See. Yeah. Oh cool. It could be really cool. So look
Speaker 4 00:16:51 At it. He's right there with your hat. Like,
Speaker 3 00:16:52 Oh, he's got the swag already.
Speaker 4 00:16:54 Your hat right now. Look at
Speaker 3 00:16:55 Austin. Double.
Speaker 2 00:16:56 Gotta get rid of the other one. Dude, this is a fresh one too.
Speaker 4 00:17:00 Oh yeah.
Speaker 2 00:17:01 I didn't know they were, I didn't know who was making these. Who?
Speaker 4 00:17:04 Jackson. Jackson.
Speaker 2 00:17:05 What's that? Jackson?
Speaker 4 00:17:06 We partnered
Speaker 2 00:17:06 With Jackson. Oh, no way. Oh man, I got two now.
Speaker 3 00:17:10 There you go. Falling
Speaker 2 00:17:11 Dude, I have this hat for freaking never, man. Yeah.
Speaker 4 00:17:15 What time did you get in here today, Josh?
Speaker 2 00:17:18 Uh, I think we pulled in like eight. Eight or nine. Yeah. We kinda drove through the, I think our bus call last night was like three. Okay. And then had all my family to the show in Michigan, which was fun and Oh nice. It's kinda like the closest, closest to home for, for them.
Speaker 4 00:17:31 I just picked up Tracy from the hotel, so Yeah. She got in and your she got in, I was jamming one of your jams. Oh,
Speaker 2 00:17:36 That was
Speaker 4 00:17:36 Good. The, your, the Jackson Dean and you
Speaker 2 00:17:38 Saw Oh yeah. Yeah. That was cool. That's a jam. Dude. That was a, that was a different, like the Ja, so Jackson Dean asked, you know, Spotify, we had like these sessions to do and they're like, you got to do a, a duo song. And I was like, okay, well like I don't wanna do like the typical like Brooks and Dunn or like, so, and then Jackson was like, well you're from the north and you like girls probably from the north, so <laugh>, what if we did this song called Girl from the North? So that's, that's awesome. You know, it was really cool. I mean to listen to the original record and like how unstructured
Speaker 3 00:18:06 Sure. Yeah. We got free cigars. Hell yeah.
Speaker 2 00:18:09 Oh yeah. Just gimme one of those before I sang today. <laugh> can keep her later. No, no, I'll have it now. Um,
Speaker 3 00:18:16 Bro, good call here. Cut
Speaker 4 00:18:19 That bad boy. Gotcha. I'll screw it all up. All
Speaker 1 00:18:22 Right, you guys just keep talking. I'll take care.
Speaker 4 00:18:24 Okay. Thank you. Appreciate it.
Speaker 3 00:18:25 Wayne, how long have you been doing um, tailgating? Tallboys? You took it over a few years back, right?
Speaker 4 00:18:30 Yeah. Tailgating tallboys I've been doing since 2019. Okay.
Speaker 3 00:18:33 Well damn.
Speaker 4 00:18:34 The July tailgating tallboys in 2019 was my first rodeo at the this huge festival deal.
Speaker 1 00:18:40 People are like, it's not your first rodeo, but it
Speaker 3 00:18:42 Was.
Speaker 4 00:18:42 Yeah, I mean I've been booking live music and doing shows for about 21 years. Yeah. At, at the club. But this is, uh, this has been a learning experience. You know, Billy Kyle, the founder of Tailgate Tallboys has taught me a lot about this and you know, it's just amazing that him and I could, you know, team up together to save the festival back in 2019. Yeah. So it's been a, it's it's been amazing.
Speaker 3 00:19:04 Yeah. Who have you, who'd you guys have that? Um, cuz the headliners, the lineups that you guys have just been putting out and the fact that it's not just an Illinois or a like an Illinois based thing anymore. Like it's, you guys are in the south this year, you guys are going all over the Midwest. Like it's, it's really become one, becoming one of the premiere festivals series. Yeah.
Speaker 4 00:19:20 We have one in Auburn, Michigan. Yeah. Obviously everyone in Taylorville, Illinois, which is a little more south of here. Yeah. This one in Bloomington over in Clint, Iowa. And then we're rolling over to, uh, Rockingham, North Carolina, which is gonna be cool at the Rockingham Speedway.
Speaker 3 00:19:33 I think Josh is on that one too, right?
Speaker 2 00:19:35 Uh, I'm try to remember which of the other one is cuz we had, we had to move a couple around cause of the tour.
Speaker 4 00:19:40 I think this is the only Josh.
Speaker 3 00:19:42 Josh.
Speaker 2 00:19:42 Oh, there's there one that's in like, what's the south one?
Speaker 4 00:19:46 It's Rockingham, North Carolina. I'm getting all my line of stuff.
Speaker 2 00:19:49 I don't, I don't think we're, don't, we're doing
Speaker 4 00:19:51 Much.
Speaker 3 00:19:52 It's pretty crazy.
Speaker 4 00:19:53 We've, we've been, we know we've been at it for about 14 days now, so
Speaker 3 00:19:57 Yeah. How crazy. How far in advance do you have to book things like this out like caliber of Still have
Speaker 4 00:20:02 Already We just announced our, you know, two headlines last night. Yeah. On the main stage. So we have two headlines booked for 20, 24 already. We're, we'll start working
Speaker 2 00:20:11 On who, who's you gonna
Speaker 4 00:20:13 Booking's? Supposed to be a soft announcement. You gotta be at the festival to see it. Okay. All right. So sorry. Exclusive.
Speaker 2 00:20:18 We're
Speaker 1 00:20:19 Dropping this till after the festival.
Speaker 4 00:20:20 Oh, okay. Well Thursday. Are you dropping it here? Thursday would be, uh, initials CJ and Friday will be the initials ec so
Speaker 2 00:20:30 Damn.
Speaker 3 00:20:31 Put one to one together. That's, you guys pretty
Speaker 4 00:20:32 Pretty. I'll let them figure it out. Yeah. Um, for 2024. But we're already working on 2025 as we speak also. So it takes a lot of planning.
Speaker 2 00:20:41 Yeah. That's crazy. It's wild to think. Yeah. Like you already know. I mean, for those guys they already know where they're gonna be in two years to play a show. It's crazy. Yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy. That is awesome. Well, I'm excited to go.
Speaker 4 00:20:54 We
Speaker 2 00:20:55 Actually around a little bit
Speaker 4 00:20:55 And Yeah, we actually met with the boys from the Talladega.
Speaker 2 00:20:59 Oh no.
Speaker 4 00:20:59 Hell yeah. Speedway. So that could be something in the books too. We got, you know, we got, we So it's way early. Just, just talks. But that'd be, that'd be a fun one.
Speaker 3 00:21:07 Alabama's one of my favorite states for music. I mean, I'm biased cause I've only worked with Muscat on and Trey Lewis who were both Alabama acts. But the fans, both of the fans, they love live music down there and they love, and if you guys could tie like how you guys do the truck thing here and the music thing and you tie different cultures together within that community. Talladega be fucking wild, bro.
Speaker 4 00:21:25 Oh, it'd be nuts. Yeah, nuts. They, they told me their infield's like 247 acres. I was like,
Speaker 2 00:21:30 Yeah, holy, it
Speaker 4 00:21:31 Just nuts. This is 104 acres right here, you know. So I was like, whoa.
Speaker 2 00:21:33 That's how big this is.
Speaker 4 00:21:34 That's like, the whole thing is about 104 acres. Yeah. That's
Speaker 2 00:21:37 Massive. Yeah.
Speaker 4 00:21:39 So
Speaker 2 00:21:40 Crazy.
Speaker 4 00:21:41 Yeah. I can't wait to uh, see what tonight brings
Speaker 2 00:21:44 Dude. It's gonna be
Speaker 3 00:21:45 Fun. Yeah. What's the pyro look like? We got lots of pyro with jelly and we got lots of pyro with Nickelback. This
Speaker 4 00:21:50 Is, it's gonna be a show for the record books <laugh>. I mean this is Nickel Back's first festival in 10 years, so I'm freaking super honored to have them. Headline Togan Tallboys here in Bloomington, Illinois. Bringing nickel back here is is amazing.
Speaker 2 00:22:04 So what's a bucket list? For sure.
Speaker 3 00:22:05 Yeah. What's your favorite Nickelback song? Cause you, you probably jamming him back in the day, right? I know I was jamming him in like, I was in the third grade jamming him. I was one of my first CDs for all the right reasons.
Speaker 4 00:22:13 I mean, I dunno if I can pick a favorite Nickelback song. It's kinda like, what's your favorite Backstreet Boys song? You know, you can't pick. Well that,
Speaker 3 00:22:20 See that I'm not, I'm not as fluent with, I'm a big, big fan of the Butt rock, you know, <laugh> Nickelback Creed, limp Bizkit that rock from like,
Speaker 2 00:22:26 Do you know, they like host an event in Nashville that's like butt rock and it's so, it's like they bring all like all the country acts and whoever else in town and you get up and you sing just like rock songs, punk rock songs for a whole night. Where at
Speaker 3 00:22:38 At Live Oak. At Oak. We'll
Speaker 2 00:22:39 Do that at In Into Bury. Oh, okay. Yeah,
Speaker 4 00:22:41 We do. I just, I just met the owner of Live Oak last night.
Speaker 3 00:22:43 Yeah. Hayden's from around here. He's an Illinois guy. Okay. Um, but
Speaker 4 00:22:47 We were, we were, uh, bullshitting next when Mike Stud was playing. Mike just, Mike was playing or whatever. Just Mike. Yeah, he killed it. He did. Gosh, what an after party. That's
Speaker 2 00:22:55 Cool. Yeah. I wish I was here for that.
Speaker 4 00:22:57 Yeah. Got Charlie on a Friday for the after party tonight. That'd be a fun one.
Speaker 2 00:23:00 Yeah, that's gonna be sweet.
Speaker 3 00:23:01 You guys infuse a lot of different styles of music. Like it's not just a country festival anymore. It's it's a straight up music festival.
Speaker 4 00:23:07 Yeah. I have to, I have to give that up to, to Billy. Billy really? You know, back when Fgl and Nelly were doing their thing, you know, Billy kind of grabbed Nelly and put Nelly as a direct, direct support to Kane Brown in 2018.
Speaker 2 00:23:23 Oh, that's cool.
Speaker 4 00:23:24 Which was like a total like, whoa.
Speaker 2 00:23:26 What?
Speaker 4 00:23:26 Yeah, so we actually did Ludicrous was direct support to, to Sam Hunt in 2021. Obviously 2020 got canceled. Yeah. Um, it was insane. I mean, Ludacris was unreal. Yeah. Sam Hunt actually was standing, standing side stage and he goes,
Speaker 2 00:23:43 I gotta
Speaker 4 00:23:43 Follow that fucker. That's crazy. That's great. Know he just had the crowd so hyped up. But it's just cool to throw, throw a little curve ball in there and not just be strictly country. You know, we like to mix it in the rock, obviously. Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:23:55 I mean the genre's so wide open right now too. It's like cool to Yeah. Kind of do anything. So,
Speaker 4 00:24:00 So other than, uh, I mean do you get a chance to golf anymore? You're on tours. I
Speaker 2 00:24:05 Brought my clubs. You did? Chief Sa Chief, which shout out to Chief Management. Uh, he's supposed to hopefully hook me up with some new, I got like oh five or oh six pings that I'm using right now.
Speaker 4 00:24:15 I told, I told that. Not that it matters. I told that story to Simon chief
Speaker 2 00:24:17 Away. Oh, we golf.
Speaker 4 00:24:18 I'm like, how do you hit the same truck? Yeah, yeah. In the back <laugh> in the backyard of somebody working on their trees.
Speaker 2 00:24:25 It's crazy. Yeah. Or sorry. So we went golfing, uh, probably about almost a year ago now.
Speaker 4 00:24:30 It's about a year
Speaker 2 00:24:31 Ago, man. A year ago. And, uh, we both teed off and there was this like construction truck cutting down limbs off of a tree and they were like all working on it. And you do, you hit it fir you hit it first. Dude, I
Speaker 4 00:24:41 Hit it first. Yeah. Total sk seven
Speaker 2 00:24:43 Iron sets the side of the door of this like construction truck <laugh>. And we're like, dude, that's wild. And then I get up to the tee and I hit it and hit the, and I'm saying like, you know, it's 200 yards away and we both smoke the exact same spot on the, on the truck.
Speaker 4 00:24:57 <laugh>. We go up, we go up to the truck and we're trying to say sorry. They yeah,
Speaker 2 00:25:01 They did not care for us. Yeah. They didn't, they probably thought we done purpose.
Speaker 4 00:25:04 <laugh> <laugh>. This is a nice little setup. You guys got out here.
Speaker 1 00:25:08 Hey, we are, uh, we're doing the Lord's work out here. You know, Jesus had founded this great land and we're just happy to be a part of it, honestly. Thank you for having us so much man.
Speaker 4 00:25:17 No, thank you for coming, coming man. We're honored to have you guys here. We love it here. These type these type of experiences is what makes people come back to a festival. Yes. Yes. Obviously we gotta have the, the artist like this badass Josh Ross here, but Oh Jesus. You have to have experiences
Speaker 1 00:25:27 Too. You guys do a fantastic job booking. I've been talking about that. Like when we looked at your guys' festival lineup, we were like, it's like they like took our playlist and made it a freaking festival. I up and that's not cuz you were looking at our playlist. It's cuz you guys like the good stuff man. And we're absolutely Oh well thank you. We love that man. We're big fans of so many of these boys. The Lake v Boys just showed up themselves. I
Speaker 4 00:25:46 Love those guys,
Speaker 1 00:25:47 Josh over here. It's great. We're uh, we're big fans and I'm, I'm honestly stoked that you guys are too, man. I appreciate you. It's right in.
Speaker 2 00:25:54 Well let's, let's party tonight.
Speaker 1 00:25:55 That's it. Let's party baby.
Speaker 2 00:25:56 We'll be here. If
Speaker 4 00:25:57 You're not here you
Speaker 2 00:25:58 Better get here. I'll be in the, I'll be in the camp. Camp night.
Speaker 4 00:26:00 You're not released this until after the festival. Yeah. Well if you're not here, you better get here in 2024. <laugh>. Yeah. What's wrong with you? Absolutely.
Speaker 2 00:26:06 We'll
Speaker 1 00:26:07 Be right back here. Here. Back in 2024 by the dumpster. I had you on the, in the front door
Speaker 4 00:26:11 Festivals and then Nickel Back stole you <laugh>. This is true. Thank God I got this one. You know, dude, this
Speaker 2 00:26:16 Is
Speaker 4 00:26:16 Great. They were trying to give you a day off. I'm like, no, no.
Speaker 2 00:26:18 Yeah
Speaker 4 00:26:18 Dude. We'll move Josh to Saturday.
Speaker 1 00:26:20 When we saw you playing on tour with Nickelback and you called me, I was like, oh man, let's go. Yeah. Uh, also,
Speaker 4 00:26:29 So how was that mix? You know, you come, you, you, you're open. How's the mix going? Right?
Speaker 2 00:26:33 It's been great. Yeah. Like, like honestly, I, I don't know if it's just cuz of like, you know, I'm, the stuff I'm doing is like, some of it's like low to mid tempo and there's more energy stuff, but it seems, it seems like Crowd really loves it. We're doing like a cover of Virus in the middle too. And I think that just gets people really, really engaged. And, and then Braley goes on, obviously his stuff's a lot tougher and you know, he just crushes kind of the, the heavy, the heavy country rock thing. And, and then the Nickelbacks great. And then saying full circle moment Chad call, like, called like three days before the first show and was like, what do you think about covering Copperhead Road every night together? Wow. And I was, and and that was literally the song when I was like four or five years old that like made me fall in love with country music. So it was like very, very surreal. Even last night we're on stage and it's just him and I just, and then Brantley comes out too and I'm, you know, I'm standing there stinging in sync with him and I'm just like, this is fucking
Speaker 1 00:27:21 Wild. So freaking cool,
Speaker 4 00:27:22 Man. That's freaking amazing. It's cool. I mean, dude, your story's incredible. Just like when we went golfing you were saying, you know, I just, I grabbed my, I grabbed my truck, I grabbed my guitar and I just drove straight to Nashville and I didn't even have a place to live.
Speaker 2 00:27:33 I didn't have a spot. No. For a, for a long, a long while. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's, it's really cool to see. I'm just blessed and just keep working hard, I think is the biggest thing. Yeah,
Speaker 1 00:27:42 Dude. That's what it's about. Well thank you for sitting out here with Yeah, dude, us and the sun and thank you Wayne for No problem. Coming on too Wayne. Thanks for
Speaker 2 00:27:48 Having Wayne. Tell it tall boys.
Speaker 1 00:27:49 We'll see if maybe the lake fee boys will jump up for a little bit. Yeah,
Speaker 4 00:27:52 You definitely. Thank you Josh. Appreciate
Speaker 2 00:27:53 Can't wait

Speaker 6 00:29:36 Yeah. Yeah. The actual ones.
Speaker 1 00:29:38 Ones, you know me and, uh, Mike tried to become the Bash Brothers, but then he moved to Ohio. Yeah. Cause
Speaker 7 00:29:42 He's
Speaker 1 00:29:43 Sleeping. Yeah. You guys got it now.
Speaker 6 00:29:44 Yeah. Mike, Mike really let us all down, didn't
Speaker 7 00:29:46 He? Yeah, Mike really did. Hey. But
Speaker 1 00:29:47 That baby is cute though.
Speaker 7 00:29:48 No, it's a cute baby. Baby
Speaker 6 00:29:49 Is cute.
Speaker 1 00:29:50 Cutest. Yeah. Super cute. I just have less tattoos than I would've he,
Speaker 6 00:29:53 His first show was a Lakeview show. Yeah,
Speaker 1 00:29:55 I
Speaker 7 00:29:55 Know. Yeah. Dallas's first show was, uh, a couple days ago. Ken Lakeview show. No way.
Speaker 6 00:29:59 Yeah. Yeah, buddy. That's
Speaker 1 00:30:00 Amazing. Yeah. Dude, y'all were on a run. Did he Mc like what happened with that?
Speaker 7 00:30:04 Yeah, he MCed our show. It was last night we played in Jackson, Michigan. Sold like
Speaker 6 00:30:09 That. It was, uh, it end up being a thousand, I think it was, uh, nine 70 something sold. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:30:15 Dude, it's so funny. We've been talking to people and I'm like, if Lakeview's in a market the second time they're in a market, people show the fuck up, dude.
Speaker 6 00:30:23 You know what, man?
Speaker 1 00:30:24 I love the live show, man. The end show that we saw when Jesse was like, open up the fucking pit. I was like, yes. I felt like I was hoeing Pittsburgh. Dude. It was amazing.
Speaker 7 00:30:36 <laugh> dude. Our Pittsburgh show we just played at, uh, we just played at URGs. Man, it was amazing.
Speaker 1 00:30:40 URGs is a great venue on
Speaker 6 00:30:41 A, on a, what is that? Tuesday?
Speaker 7 00:30:43 On a Tuesday. Yeah. I
Speaker 1 00:30:44 Mean, it's a great venue. It's
Speaker 6 00:30:45 Blown away by the turnout on a Tuesday. Yeah. I mean,
Speaker 1 00:30:48 We call that the home team, honestly. That's
Speaker 6 00:30:49 God name. Right. For
Speaker 7 00:30:50 Real. God damn. Right. So
Speaker 1 00:30:51 How's the road been treating you boys?
Speaker 7 00:30:54 To be honest, it's been great. We don't me, when, when we went on this tour, we've kind, we're kind of in the position where like no one wants to really take us out. So we just kind of said, fuck it. And we're just playing our own shows and, uh, I mean
Speaker 6 00:31:10 Yeah, we, we we, we realized that like no one in Nashville is gonna ever take Lakeview out on the road and, uh,
Speaker 1 00:31:16 Unless they like understand
Speaker 6 00:31:18 Me and Jesse talked about it with our booking agent and she was like, if you guys want to try it, let's try it. And we'll just see how it goes. And, uh, all green light from here, man. It's, it, it is been mind blowing. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, like, we had no idea anybody would really sh like show up the way it has been. We, we have four sellouts on this.
Speaker 1 00:31:38 So
Speaker 7 00:31:38 Crazy. It's been sick. Yeah. Yeah. We had 400 people come out to the, the Pittsburgh show. It was unreal,
Speaker 1 00:31:43 Dude. When we were at that Nashville show and like, just watching the entire crowd that was like all Lakeview fans. I was like, this is what I dreamed of. It's in my dreams, man. Yeah.
Speaker 7 00:31:54 This is what I also dreamed of. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:31:56 It's so cool. And that's like, it's one of those things where it's like when people see your guys show and they realize like what it is, then they're like, okay, yeah. They get it. Yeah. I want to see this as often as possible, you
Speaker 6 00:32:07 Know? Yeah. We try to, we try to tell people anytime we can. You know, it's like we, we don't, we don't drive all this way and we don't give up everything in our lives to, to come and just everybody stand there and watch us play the album. You know what I mean? Right. It, it's just so boring. Like do something that's gonna be me memorable and we're gonna give our best shot at that. But like, we expect just as much back from the crowd as well. Yes. Yeah. That's no more standing around. Shit. I hate that stuff.
Speaker 1 00:32:33 You're like, get let's get up here and open up the pit.
Speaker 7 00:32:36 Open it up baby. It's been good. That's right.
Speaker 1 00:32:38 Yeah, man, it's so great. Like watching you guys like just be a fusion of like the hard rock and roll that I came to love growing up and then like country music that is happening right now. And just like watching you guys fucking meld that together is so powerful,
Speaker 7 00:32:51 Man. Yeah, man. I appreciate that. Yo, there's a, there's a whole, it's funny, our shows are like, especially in these like random little towns like playing in Minneapolis in the middle of nowhere, you have like a dude straight off the ranch with like a cowboy hat. Then you have a guy like Chin to the Feet all covered in tattoos with like some old hardcore band shirt. It's like we're, it's really cool to see like those two worlds almost melding together and and enjoying what we're doing. It's, it's awesome.
Speaker 6 00:33:17 It was, it was, we, we uh, direct supported, uh, Easton Corbin, which, uh, we just love him to death. And there was an actual pit opened up at that show and it was like, nobody No. And and it was funny, half the dudes moshing were working the show. There were staffed at the show <laugh> that like quit. They took their crew shirts off and came out and started, started Moshing. And I was like, man, I think we're like not that far from like, yo, let's split this fucker right down the middle. You know what I mean? Let's
Speaker 1 00:33:47 Bro open and
Speaker 6 00:33:48 That's
Speaker 7 00:33:49 Wall all.
Speaker 1 00:33:50 Love that.
Speaker 7 00:33:52 That's right.
Speaker 1 00:33:53 Open up the fucking bed. That's
Speaker 7 00:33:54 Right. Yeah, man. Yeah,
Speaker 1 00:33:56 Dude, it's, it's one of those things where it's like, I remember seeing your guys show and I was like, there needs to be screaming in this. Yeah. And now you guys are like, yeah, we get it <laugh>. It's Yeah. You're like, yeah. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, dude. But like, we've been believers and it's crazy that y'all are from like Pittsburgh area, but like Mike is who introduced me to your music, you know, and like, he was like, check this out. And I was like, oh fuck. And then I'd watch you guys play like your early full band shows. Like I got to see her at first full band show. Yeah. At the high watch. Yeah, man. Yeah. Fuck. Great show by the way. Yeah. Fuck you. And I was like, I was like, Jesse is holding back screaming <laugh>. Like I could hear it in your voice like you wanted to so bad. You were into it and you were like, I
Speaker 6 00:34:38 Want
Speaker 1 00:34:38 To scream <laugh>
Speaker 7 00:34:39 Now. We do it now, man. Yeah. It's been, uh, me and Luke have never had more fun than we are right now. And that's Yeah. I the truth. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:34:47 Absolutely. Love that man.
Speaker 6 00:34:47 We don't have much voices left after these, after these shows, but, but we leave it all on the stage every single night.
Speaker 7 00:34:53 Fuck. Yeah. We do everything out
Speaker 1 00:34:54 There. That is literally what it's about. Yeah. It's just like being out here for the fans, giving them the best thing you can and then going home and talking to your girlfriend with half a voice, you know? Yeah.
Speaker 7 00:35:04 <laugh>.
Speaker 1 00:35:06 Sorry. Good babe. It's everything.
Speaker 6 00:35:09 It's, it's, it's always feels so good to get out of Nashville too, like being stuck there for so long. It Yeah. It, you forget, uh, you almost just like, forget about like, I mean, I don't, because we both work, work full-time jobs still. And, and, uh, but like, you, you forget that everybody else is just like you we're, when we're kind of stuck in that isolation of Nashville. It's like, oh man, well everybody only talks about the industry and the next move and this and that. And then, and then you get to come out here and do shit like this and party with everybody and you're like, man, I, this guy is exactly the same person as me and this chick is super hot and she's nice too. You know what I mean? <laugh>,
Speaker 1 00:35:49 God bless that.
Speaker 6 00:35:50 It's just cool to be out with, with our, our kind of folk and that's why we do this shit,
Speaker 1 00:35:53 Man. And that's like the coolest part about this festival. Tailgate Tallboy in between all the sets they're playing Limp Biz. Oh yeah. Yep. They're playing Nickelback. Yep. They're playing like all this rock music, man. Yep. You know, and a lot of the acts here are country. Yeah. But a lot of 'em are kind of and in between like you guys are. Oh yeah. Which I super dig.
Speaker 7 00:36:09 Hell yeah. It's
Speaker 1 00:36:11 A, it's a beautiful day here at Tailgate and Tallboys and we thank y'all for being here. We're about to have a dizzy bat tournament coming up. Let's
Speaker 7 00:36:17 Do it.
Speaker 1 00:36:18 All right. Well dude, thank y'all for jumping on. I know you guys buddy, we're gotta have you back on the pod with Kurt and y'all play with Kurt.
Speaker 7 00:36:23 Fuck yeah.
Speaker 8 00:36:25 What is your music
Speaker 1 00:36:26 Inspiration? Hey, come over here and ask it.
Speaker 7 00:36:28 Yeah. Ask it if you mean it, bro.
Speaker 6 00:36:32 Yeah. The crazy part is I could hear you but probably nobody else could.
Speaker 8 00:36:35 Yeah, bud. Yeah. I've done that before
Speaker 6 00:36:38 So I didn't see we're here because of that chick. That was my inspiration right there
Speaker 8 00:36:41 First. Good. So all in all reality. Okay. Um, my buddies watched you guys last year. You guys hung out with them. Yeah. They're like, you gotta hear these guys. Okay. Um, I I started listening to you phenomenal, phenomenal music. What is your inspiration? Like, what is your, what are, what are your artists that like gave you the sound that you have because it's, it's unique.
Speaker 7 00:37:03 Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think me and Luke have a deeply rooted background in, I mean, things like Nickelback and, uh, even like harder stuff. Like Luke loves Bear, you're dead. And, uh, we grew up on hardcore music, like terror and things like that. And then, but also we both come from kind of like these blue collar towns. Yep. And, and I know he, I, for me personally, I grew up on like Toby Keith and Brad Paisley and kind of that like early two thousands, mid two thousands country music. Um, so it's just like those two worlds finally just ended up melding together. Okay. You know? Yeah.
Speaker 6 00:37:35 It was kind of like, you know, the older, uh, uh, we, me and Jessica got to write this song actually a little while ago, but, uh, like the older you get, you just start realizing all these old country songs we used to listen to when we were kids, cuz we weren't allowed to listen to like anything else was country or like church music. Yep. Growing up, all these songs, you, you go, they just start making sense as you get older in life and you're like, oh my God, you know what? Like, shit, now I get it like this. It's, it's all, it's, that's kind of how it graduated into that. It's not like, I don't like Metal Core and I don't like all the stuff that, all my accomplishments I've, I've done with my past projects and Jesse feels the same. It's just now this stuff, we, we started doing this for fun just out of, out of passion because we had to and it just made sense to us.
Speaker 6 00:38:26 You know what I mean? Yeah. It's like, it's just real, it's actually real, you know what I mean? Yeah. Like, we do work our ass off all day. We do not know what it's like to be like sitting in a cushy place in our lives. We never have. Cuz we gave it all up to fucking do music that never was successful. And um, therefore we had to work the shittiest jobs. Not shittiest jobs, but like jobs that you really, really have to bust your fucking ass. Cuz those were the only people that keep you around. Yep. You know?
Speaker 8 00:38:53 Okay. So if you had like, your one song independently, like who is, who is the song and artist? So, me personally, Edwin McCain, 3:00 AM That is my, that is my like mm-hmm. <affirmative> Cemetery song. That one's coming with me every, every year. I think he's magic. He's, he's a phenomenal singer. Mm. So who is, who is your or who, what's what's your one song?
Speaker 7 00:39:21 That's a good question. Oh, Jesus man. I mean, I think I, I like too many styles of music. So I think for, for my, my Come on You, you got my countryside,
Speaker 8 00:39:29 You got the No, no. The one song.
Speaker 7 00:39:31 Yeah. Like this,
Speaker 8 00:39:32 This is
Speaker 6 00:39:33 Like this one song. My song one, if I, if I was stuck and I had to listen to this song for the rest of my freaking life, honestly it'd probably be something from Nickelback, I swear to God. Although it, it would be that or it would be digging up bones, you know what I mean? Like that, you know, it it, man, that's tough man. Honestly, I I I feel like I'd just be doing somebody a disservice by answering that question, man. Honestly, even myself mostly.
Speaker 7 00:39:57 Yeah. I think I, I'm, I probably picked something that my dad, me and my dad grew up on. He showed me a lot of like, yeah,
Speaker 6 00:40:02 I picked something from Gordon Lightfoot.
Speaker 7 00:40:03 Yeah. A lot of Gordon Lightfoot, a lot of like Steely Dan and kind of stuff like that. And that, that, that stuff holds like a really, really special place in my heart. Just cuz you build those, it's, you build those relationships with your dad over these things. And, and maybe it's not like my most favorite song, but it's something that when I listen to it, I'm like, oh, I'm, I'm 12 years old in the car with my dad and we're listening to fucking Steely Dan or whatever, you know? Okay. So well
Speaker 8 00:40:26 Let, let, let's keep the same theme going on. Okay. So, um, we got some, some guys here that are law enforcement. Okay. So I'm, I'm a detective. He's, he's a cop. He's a cop.
Speaker 6 00:40:38 Nice
Speaker 8 00:40:38 Wrap up. Okay. What is your death row meal?
Speaker 7 00:40:42 Chicken parm.
Speaker 6 00:40:44 Chicken parm. So fly so funny. My dad worked at Western Penitentiary his whole life. Dude. It's, it's so funny. So I used to have to serve like some def row fucking meals chicken. So funny. But, uh, chicken parm, dude, that's, that's pretty freaky. Yeah, that's,
Speaker 7 00:40:58 I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a fucking dirty Italian. What guys
Speaker 6 00:41:00 Say? Dude, mac and cheese bites from sheets baby dude
Speaker 7 00:41:03 Mac and cheese bites from sheets.
Speaker 8 00:41:04 Okay, hold on. And are, are you going regular mac and cheese or are you going spiral
Speaker 7 00:41:09 Mac and cheese bites. See
Speaker 8 00:41:10 My, my kids don't do spiral. They don't do regular, they have to do spiral.
Speaker 6 00:41:14 Yeah. See? Nah, nah, as long as it's from sheets. Alright.
Speaker 8 00:41:17 Hey, thanks fellas.
