Absolutely. Speaker 3 00:00:37 Thank, Speaker 2 00:00:37 Thank we gonna have a good time. Speaker 3 00:00:39 Um, this is our first time doing the podcast in this luxurious podcast room. Speaker 2 00:00:44 I'm into it. This is super sick. Speaker 3 00:00:47 Yeah. Um, the scene behind you is super majestic, as you can tell from it being, Speaker 2 00:00:54 I'm excited to see what you all put behind me. I'm kinda scared though, honestly. Speaker 1 00:00:58 It's gonna be some like photo we pulled off your Facebook from freshman year of college or something. Oh Speaker 3 00:01:02 God. Speaker 2 00:01:03 When I had a literal buzz cut. Whoa. Really? It was terrifying. I was in my Miley Cyrus phase when she did bangers. I was just really inspired. So I shaved my head. Speaker 1 00:01:13 Okay. Now we have to put a photo of that on Speaker 3 00:01:15 There. Yeah, we're gonna find that photo somehow. Speaker 2 00:01:17 And I would spike it up in the middle and call it the party hawk. Speaker 3 00:01:20 Hell yeah. Speaker 2 00:01:21 It was a fun time. Speaker 3 00:01:22 Party Hawk man. Well, you need to make a t-shirt that says Party Hawk, maybe Speaker 2 00:01:26 One, one of the face tees. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:01:28 What the party man? Now you got it. Like merch. Make it, make it like the old, like give me like the idea of what that looks like. Like your face that you'd have on it. Speaker 2 00:01:38 Uh, well, I mean, it's just, just me big smiling. Just a straight up, just a straight haw mohawk and then maybe just like party hawk Dang. T a d or something. You know? Speaker 3 00:01:47 We need to talk to whoever makes your t-shirts. Speaker 2 00:01:50 We'll get on that. I'm, Speaker 3 00:01:52 I'm not doing good with this video switching thing, but Speaker 1 00:01:54 Just let, just don't do it then. Speaker 3 00:01:56 We're, we're gonna get there one of these years. Okay, well welcome to the podcast, the Raise Roddy podcast with me Speaker 1 00:02:05 And me also Kurt Kurt's here. Hello. Speaker 2 00:02:07 And me <laugh>. Speaker 3 00:02:10 Uh, well, well thank you for coming and being in our luxurious, uh, bedroom slash studio. I'm Speaker 2 00:02:15 Happy to be here for the Speaker 3 00:02:16 First time. Um, we are working on Speaker 1 00:02:19 This, just to clarify, this is not Nick and I's actual bedroom and that we live separately. Yes. Speaker 3 00:02:24 <laugh> Speaker 1 00:02:25 In separately. Contrary what some people might believe, but because of how much time we spend together. But I do love you though. I love you too, brother. But I do love Colleen more though. Speaker 3 00:02:32 Yeah. She's way cooler to hang out with than me. Yes. Speaker 2 00:02:35 Shout out Colleen. What's Speaker 3 00:02:36 Up? Way better looking. Um, speaking of hang out a lot. We saw you guys a decent bit here. Key West was pretty freaking fun. Speaker 2 00:02:44 Oh my God. Speaker 3 00:02:45 So you guys got Key West? Yeah. Uh, that's, for those that don't know, key West is like spring break for songwriters. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And then I come too because I get to like, make songwriters play more than they should. Yes. Well we appreciate you playing that though. Speaker 2 00:03:00 To be completely honest. I have like, just flashes of that round. Yeah. Uh, but it was great fun, I'm sure. Yes. Um, Cinco de Mayo, I saw lots of pictures of you and Ben. Yes. Uh, with little Sombrero. We'll Speaker 3 00:03:12 Throw some of those on there for sure. For people to see. Speaker 1 00:03:15 I didn't go this past time. We Speaker 2 00:03:17 Missed you a lot. We did miss Speaker 1 00:03:18 You. We did. I heard that it was not as fun as the year before. Is that true? Speaker 2 00:03:22 I think it's just cuz you weren't there. Speaker 1 00:03:23 That's what I, that's what I assume. But you know, I just wanted to hear you say it. But Yeah, the Speaker 3 00:03:27 Previous year was like a little bit more intimate. It felt like, like there wasn't as much going on, you know. It Speaker 2 00:03:32 Was a lot this year. Yeah. Yeah. Um, Speaker 3 00:03:34 It was still fun though. Speaker 2 00:03:35 I was Yep. We were rocking. Yeah. The whole time. We were absolutely rocking. Speaker 3 00:03:39 We definitely gave it hell. Speaker 2 00:03:41 Yep. Speaker 1 00:03:42 Yeah. And probably received it as well. Received in terms of, uh, hangovers the next day. At least I did every single day in Key West all the time. Speaker 2 00:03:48 My liver is, was, is and was, uh, just Speaker 1 00:03:52 A dried trouble. Toast. Speaker 2 00:03:53 Yeah. I took milk thistle every day cuz you know, that's supposed to help your liver. Speaker 3 00:03:57 I don't even know what that means. Speaker 2 00:03:59 Well, Speaker 3 00:03:59 I gotta look it up, Speaker 2 00:04:00 Huh? Apparently it's supposed to help your levels and stuff. We take it a lot and Speaker 1 00:04:05 Cleans you out. Speaker 2 00:04:06 I feel like I feel good about it. I feel like it helps hangovers. Maybe it's just placebo, but, Speaker 1 00:04:11 Well, I take what we can get. Speaker 2 00:04:13 Yeah. Oh yeah. Cheers to that <laugh>. Cheers Speaker 1 00:04:15 To that. Cheers to take. And speaking of, uh, hangovers, thank you for the bottle of, uh, bourbon you bought by. Speaker 3 00:04:20 Yeah. What do we have there? Speaker 2 00:04:22 Well, we have Kentucky Straight Bourbon, small batch Victors in the house. Beautiful. Speaker 1 00:04:26 Cheers. Speaker 3 00:04:27 Cheers. What a blessing. Oh yeah. You, so you're particular a Kentucky Bourbon? Well, Speaker 2 00:04:35 I'm from Kentucky. Right. Speaker 3 00:04:36 That's Speaker 1 00:04:37 What I didn't know that. Speaker 3 00:04:38 Are you a, are you a Jim Beam fan? Speaker 2 00:04:41 Uh, well I have a song about Jim Beam. Right. So I gotta say yes. Yes. But, uh, my favorite bourbons are like Woodford, angels, envy, bullet, um, of course the expensive ones, you know. Speaker 3 00:04:52 Yeah. The ones that like as well are too much money. Speaker 2 00:04:54 Um, I like Weller a lot. Eagle Rare. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. You know what? Anything in Kentucky, you can't really go wrong. True. Speaker 1 00:05:00 Ooh. I, Speaker 3 00:05:02 That one tastes extra good with, but then also Bush light tastes extra good. Speaker 2 00:05:05 Well, you gotta chase it with the Bush light. Speaker 1 00:05:08 I have some Kool-Aid here as well. Yeah. That's, wait, is that how you know Cory Hunt? Or No, from Kentucky. Kentucky or from Nashville. Speaker 2 00:05:14 So, well, I met Corey in Nashville, but he's from Lexington. Uh, no, he went to college in Lexington. Oh, he's around central Kentucky. Right. Speaker 1 00:05:21 Yeah. And for those that don't know co he's uh, the piano player for Luke Combs. Yes. Speaker 2 00:05:25 Cory is the man. No doubt. Congrats to him and his new baby. Yes. Speaker 1 00:05:29 Yeah. Enjoy cake. It was fun having you come in, sitting in and playing with us the other night at the local. Speaker 2 00:05:35 Oh yeah. I was like, hold on. Where did we go? <laugh>? Uh, yeah, that's always fun. I love the local man. I love going there. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. That's why were Speaker 3 00:05:41 My favorite bars Speaker 2 00:05:42 For, we were there like two nights ago. Jeff was, uh, he came up and he was like, I'll buy y'all around if you can take a shot of Mallor without making a face. And I was like, I got this. Speaker 1 00:05:52 Mallor is not good. Did you Speaker 2 00:05:53 Do it? I did it. But someone else in our group did not. Uh, Speaker 1 00:05:58 So we're not, we not naming Speaker 2 00:06:00 That person. I'm not person gonna name that. I'm not gonna name names. Cause is bad. It is kinda embarrassing. Oh, it tastes like cleaner or something. Like if I drunk a 4 0 9 or something, I don't Speaker 1 00:06:09 Yeah, it's brutal. It's bad. We always, we keep one bottle in the bar cart like on the road. Luke has this bar and it, it's got like, he drinks, uh, Jefferson's Oceans a lot. So it's got that. We have Jameson. That's good. Uh, Jack Daniels of course. And it's got, you know, vodka, various tequilas, which I usually don't drink. Although Why is, is everyone drinking tequila more nowadays for some reason? Yeah, it's back. That's the new liquor in Speaker 2 00:06:30 Style. Style. I like Reto. Any kinda reto is good with me, but as far as like, what's the one that's really uh, tastes like a campfire? Mescal. Oh, Speaker 1 00:06:40 Mescal. Gross. Mescal. Speaker 2 00:06:41 You would <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:06:43 But, um, we keep a bottle of lo in the bar cart and um, whenever there's like a new person coming on, like we all do a shot before the show and so someone will always sneak them like a little malore. So everyone does a shot of like Jefferson's Ocean or Jameson, whatever, and it's like, yay. And then one, you could tell the whoever got the Malore shot, it's like a Russian roulette. They're like, oh, actually one more a story about Malore. Um, when Luke won Entertainment of the Year at the ACM Awards, I think it was Sounds Right, we were having a watching party at a bar and it was open bar and K Luke's manager is the one who was footing the bill for it. So we were all there getting, and of course Luke won and we were all screaming and we're like, let's do shots. Uh, well someone gave me a shot of uh, Pappy Van Winkle. Ooh. Speaker 1 00:07:34 And they're like, you want? I'm like, hell yeah. It's open bar. And in my head I'm thinking, these bartenders are dumb for giving out this liquor. Oh. You know what I mean? And then Colleen was like, don't do that. Don't do that. You don't know who's paying for that. Cause she's a bartender. Right. She's like, you don't know whose pocket that's coming out of could end up being bad. Like, I'm like, it's an open bar. Like it's their fault for having, you know, serving it. So the next day, um, you know, my hungover is anything and Colin was like, whatever happened, like whos the one that was like pouring those shots? I was like, oh, I forget who gave that to me. And she was like, it was this old guy. So it was a whole mystery as to who was the one that ordered it, cuz Kathy found out later when he got the bill that night and was not happy about it at all. Speaker 1 00:08:17 Yeah. I can't imagine what that cost at a bar. Well, here's how he got us back. He said, we, we had, we did a, a tour and a tour photo with all our crew. Then he got up on the mic and was like, who was here at the party that had a Pappy shot? Raise your hand. And so I put my hand up and like a bunch of the guys in the crew, and he goes, all right, you guys are all doing a shot of Cappy Van Winkle right now. And he pulled out a bottle of Mallor, oh <laugh> and pour big fat shots for everyone. He goes, this is, I just wanna say thank you guys for running up thousands of dollars of bourbon tab on my thing. So funny. And we all drank it. We're just like, Speaker 3 00:08:54 Oh, Speaker 2 00:08:55 <laugh>. Honestly, like, I, I like Pappy, but for me, like, there's other things that are just really great. You know, like Yeah. Speaker 1 00:09:03 So yeah, it's that extra, they get that little extra bit. It takes so much more. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:09:07 Yeah. And I've had the 10 year, the 23 year. Like, I just, what's Speaker 3 00:09:11 Wrong with just like a good old basil hay. Speaker 2 00:09:13 You know, why not? You know? Yeah. I, I'm with you on that. It tastes delicious. But I mean, just to say you've had it, I guess it's kinda like a flex, you know? Oh, I have, I've had Pepper. Speaker 1 00:09:20 We, um, we played in California somewhere and sorry to tell a bunch of stories, but, uh, I guess that's the point of a podcast. But we played this show in California and this owner of the bar was like, Hey, why don't you guys bring the buses to my bourbon bar and we'll drink afterwards. So we're like, yes, okay. This is like when we were on two buses years ago, 2018. And so we go and he makes Luke get on this ladder cause it's like a library of bourbons top, top, top shelf gets his pappy off and boards everyone to sit. And then, you know, Luke gives a speech and cheers. And then Rob threw the whole thing back and we're like, we're all staring at Rob. Like, dude, what did you just do? He's like, what? I'm like, that's like $300 of liquor you just drank in like one second. He had no idea It was so expensive. Oh Speaker 2 00:10:03 Yeah. I did the exact same thing in Vegas. We were, I was with a friend and he shut the whole bar down in, uh, MGM Grand. And he was like, whatever you want. And so I was like, I don't wanna get Pappy, whatever, just cuz we were high rolling. We were with like, we were with, uh, Bruno Mars' Band randomly. Oh, that's cool. And yeah, so we were all just in there partying hard and, um, shooting 23 Pappy, like Speaker 1 00:10:26 No big deal. An idiot. Speaker 2 00:10:27 Yeah. And then I, no, felt horrible. The next day, uh, my mom told me that I went and laid in the bathtub up in the room. Uh, she had to go, Ben, y'all, if y'all don't know Ben, he's my fiance. He was there and, um, she found him in the corner just curled up into a little ball on the casino floor with some couple being like, Hey, let's take you back to your room. And he was like, no, Speaker 1 00:10:50 I love you Ben. We love you Ben. Never change <laugh> Speaker 2 00:10:54 Fetal position. Random corner of the bar, uh, casino. So that was, that was what Pappy did to us. But it was fun. Speaker 3 00:11:01 Yeah. Vegas is a blessing but also a curse, you know? No Speaker 1 00:11:04 Doubt. Yeah, I know like a lot of country singers are doing like the residency now, like Carrie's done one and Garth does one where he like does an acoustic or whatever. I'm like, if Luke ever does one, I'm probably gonna die. Oh Speaker 2 00:11:17 Yeah. 100%. Speaker 1 00:11:18 Or just like, go and just like, buy weed and hole up in my room and just get like Uber Eats every day. Speaker 2 00:11:24 You can get it delivered. Speaker 3 00:11:25 What a blessing. Yes, Speaker 1 00:11:26 You can. Speaker 2 00:11:27 Yes. I always see the billboards like we deliver mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Speaker 1 00:11:30 That is a blessing for sure. Yeah. Yeah. That would keep you Speaker 3 00:11:33 Outta trouble. You're like, I'm too high to actually go to the store. Please deliver this to me. <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:11:37 Bring me food and drugs, Speaker 3 00:11:38 McDonald's and that please. Speaker 2 00:11:40 It's a great business market. I mean, I greed, Speaker 1 00:11:42 You know. Oh, I know. I wish it was here in Tennessee. Man, that would be so great. Speaker 2 00:11:46 One day. Speaker 3 00:11:46 Yeah. Whoa. We're bible belty. So we'll see. I mean, they had it decriminalized and then the new mayor took that away. Oh, I didn't know that previously It was decriminalized and you could like, if you got caught, it would just be like nice little slap on the wrist. Yeah. And then he was like, nah, we're not gonna do that anymore. So he took that away. Speaker 2 00:12:04 I did not know that. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:12:05 Not the best, but look Speaker 2 00:12:06 Up to the south. Speaker 3 00:12:07 Yeah. Sometimes on the Bible about jobs. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:12:09 Bummer. Oh, well, well maybe I should have Luke go do a residency there and just hang out. Yeah. Maybe you should do one. Hell yeah. That would be, you would have a lot of fun out there. Speaker 3 00:12:20 Well, speaking of that, you've played on a couple of Taylor songs, right? Speaker 1 00:12:23 Yeah. Let's talk about that. Yeah. Um, so the stu what was the name of the studio? Speaker 2 00:12:29 Studio? 77. 77 Speaker 3 00:12:32 Sounds right to Speaker 2 00:12:33 Me. I forget now. Speaker 1 00:12:34 No, it was, so I'll just paint a picture of this place. It was this old ass house. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> in, it was like Nashville 40. No, no, it was outside of Nashville. It was like Goodlettsville or something. It was like 45 minutes outside of town. And this house had been a studio just for eons. Speaker 2 00:12:54 It's a damn time capsule. Speaker 1 00:12:56 Yes. And it was so cool. It was like going to like grandpa's attic or something. Dang. With like shag carpet on the walls. Yeah. And, and everything was really dark and it was just such a cool vibe in there. It was, was really fun. Speaker 2 00:13:08 It was a whole vibe when I first went, I was like, yeah, this is, we're gonna make some music here. I just, I loved it. I thought it was so cool. Speaker 1 00:13:14 And that was the first day I met Corey. Speaker 2 00:13:16 Okay. Yeah. Well I think I did make y'all's introduction that one time. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:13:19 Because then we, we were in rehearsals for Europe and then I walked in and there's some new keys guy and it was Corey. I was like, oh, I've done a session with him before. So that was cool. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:13:29 Small world. Speaker 1 00:13:29 Yeah. And how many songs did were on the ep? Speaker 2 00:13:32 Well, I did, I released him as singles. So we did three, uh, we did Water Me Down. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> like You Do and Lucky Man. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So you played on all three of those, if you know. Oh Speaker 1 00:13:43 Yeah. Steel guitar. I played still guitar in this. Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. We'll play one of those later today, I assume, right? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:13:48 I bought my guitar. It's somewhere. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Speaker 3 00:13:50 We'll, we'll figure it out once we get done with the talking stuff. Speaker 2 00:13:54 All right. Speaker 3 00:13:54 Um, I like to, you also just played your first outdoor whiskey jam. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. How was that? That Speaker 2 00:13:59 Was my first Whiskey jam ever that I played. Yeah. Hell yeah. Never played Whiskey Jam before. Uh, it was kind of random how I got on that. Um, wasn't actually through Ward or anybody. It was, um, so Outsider is run by Jay Cutler, if y'all are familiar with him. Yeah. What Speaker 1 00:14:13 Is, what is Outsider? It's Speaker 2 00:14:14 Like a platform like news. Uh, it's like a kind of like a online magazine. They just, it's kinda like Daily Mail, I guess. Mm-hmm. They just, it's a bunch of like info, like cover country music movies, just like, kinda like the typical American stuff, you know? Mm-hmm. <affirmative> very like red, white and blue type shit. So, um, but anyway, so I went and did a, uh, event with them and I met Jay and Jay was like, Hey, we're hosting this whiskey jam with nascar, we want you on it. So he kinda hooked that whole thing up and uh, yeah, I got to do it. It was super fun. That's blessing. And Corey actually played with me on that too. Speaker 1 00:14:50 Oh, I didn't know know that. Hell yeah. Yep. Whiskey Jam is so fun to play. It's like some of my fondest memories of playing in Nashville were going there and hanging out. Speaker 2 00:14:58 It was hotter than the blazes of hell that day. I'm still, I'm still not recovered from it. I mean, it was like, I, it was like a hundred and it was like a hundred that day. I think Speaker 1 00:15:09 That was during the heat wave. Speaker 2 00:15:11 And I played first of course in the sun at Speaker 1 00:15:14 Seven o'clock or six Speaker 2 00:15:15 O'clock or whatever. Yeah. And I walked up to do sound check and you know, they have, now they have this like little, what are they call the walkways out for? Catwalk, Speaker 1 00:15:21 Catwalk. Cat Thrust. Yeah. Yes. Speaker 2 00:15:22 Yeah. And he's like, well, feel free to get out there and, you know, do something. And I was like, hell no. Like I'm stand back here in the halfway shade, shade, you know? It was, it was awesome though. It was, uh, it was a good time. So good way to break it in. Speaker 1 00:15:34 I was playing shows like that in Nashville is always kind of more nerve wracking, I feel like mm-hmm. <affirmative> than like playing like a stadium show, like in Seattle for some reason. Cuz it's like, I know, like, you look around the crowd, I'm like, I know you play guitar and you play stuff, you know what I mean? Speaker 2 00:15:49 Well, you're in front of all your peers really. And you're like, oh, did I hit the wrong notes? It's, it's like, are my vocals good? Like, Speaker 1 00:15:55 You're new to the class and it's like, tell us something about yourself. What you know. And you're like, uh, <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:16:01 No, it's uh, and that was like, it was just so cool to be able to do that one for my first one. And I was like, I mean, I've been to a million Whiskey jams, you know, and I know how it goes, but like, it's so different when you're actually like doing that. So, Speaker 1 00:16:13 And it's outdoors and a big deal. Yeah. You don't strike me as the person that would be nervous on stage, just cuz I think you've played a lot of shows. Speaker 2 00:16:20 I'm not nervous, but I will say that this Whiskey Jam, we didn't have a rehearsal mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, and I was just like, let's just do it. So during soundcheck we kind of run a little bit mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, and that was the only thing I was really nervous about. Uh, I don't get real nervous cuz like you said, I've been playing literally since I was five, so I was just like, let's go. But the whole non rehearsal thing kind of gave me a little tickle, you know. Wait, Speaker 1 00:16:44 So you've been playing shows since you were five? Speaker 2 00:16:46 Literally like getting paid since I was fives. Wow. I used to be on this thing called the Young Country or the Barn Dance at Rro Valley in Eastern Kentucky. And I would sing, play the Fiddle and Clog all at the same time. Oh, I Speaker 1 00:16:59 Didn't know you played fiddle. Speaker 2 00:17:00 I used to. Oh yeah. This is what I started out on literally when I was in kindergarten. Um, so I, I did that, you know, for years. Um, so that's kinda where I cut my teeth. Speaker 1 00:17:09 Wait, are you still clogging or no? Oh hell yeah. Speaker 2 00:17:11 Hell, Speaker 1 00:17:11 Hell yeah. Oh cool. Speaker 2 00:17:12 It's my party trick. You'll see it one day. Okay. Speaker 1 00:17:15 I think today will be the day actually. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:17:17 I've already seen it. I don't know. Speaker 1 00:17:18 Um, I did notice one thing when we were playing on stage at, at the local and you had just showed up to listen and Corey brought you on stage. I noticed like your guitar playing is very strong too. How long have you been playing guitar? Speaker 2 00:17:32 I picked up guitar I think when I was around 10, 10 years old. And, uh, I played by ear so I just totally, the person that taught me also played by ears. So he would like, he would just, he would gimme lessons and he would just sit there and play and then I'd like play it back to him. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So I started that when I was 10 and then probably took lessons from him like five years or something. Speaker 1 00:17:50 Um, yeah. Cause I was, I mean, your voice is incredible, but the one thing I was really shocked by was your, um, your very strong rhythm playing and like, cuz you're doing a lot of finger picking stuff too, that I was like, damn, this girl can play her ass off on guitar. Speaker 2 00:18:04 I love doing like, well, I, I will say too, growing up in Bluegrass, I was in a bluegrass band when I was very young. I think that is what, that's so Speaker 1 00:18:12 Cool. I wish I was that cool. Speaker 2 00:18:13 That is what did it, like, honestly, like all the, I did so many fiddle tunes. I, I played mandolin, I still play mandolin and I learned all those fiddle tunes mm-hmm. And all that stuff. So I think that really like strengthened when I transitioned to guitar, like made me even stronger guitar Speaker 1 00:18:26 Player. Yeah. Rhythmically too. Cause like you play with like, it was like very strong and like with a lot of confidence and conviction the way you play guitar. Thank you. It's not just kind of like you're accompanying yourself. It's like, and you have a lot of power in your hands too with like, the picking and everything. And I was like, I looked at Core, I was like, God damn, Speaker 2 00:18:45 It's my strong hand. Speaker 1 00:18:46 Yeah. Take my strong Speaker 3 00:18:47 Hand. Speaker 1 00:18:48 <laugh>. Yeah. So. Okay. That makes sense. Cause I didn't know that about you, about the bluegrass thing thing too. So I wish I came up in a bluegrass. Maybe I'd be a really good singer. Speaker 2 00:18:56 I mean, bluegrass is bluegrass, you know? Yeah. I love it. But, uh, I don't think I'd really wanna have a career in it, you know? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:19:03 Yeah. It's tough. Different Speaker 2 00:19:04 Thing. Yeah. It's totally different vibe in the bluegrass world. Yeah. I mean, Speaker 1 00:19:06 It's hard enough in country. Right, right. Speaker 3 00:19:08 <laugh>, when did you get to town here in Nashville? Speaker 2 00:19:11 Uh, the beginning of 2018. I moved here, so I guess four and a half. A little over four and a half years now. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:19:17 I remember like when I first moved to town and I was like, oh, hey, I just moved here. And they're like, how long have you been there? I've been like, oh, a few months or whatever. And they're like, oh my God, you're so fresh. And now when people are like, I moved here in 2018, I'm like, damn, I'm old <laugh>. Like, some people are like, yeah, I just moved to town. I'm like, oh, I didn't like, I think like August for me, it'll be 10 years. Oh Speaker 2 00:19:38 Wow. Speaker 3 00:19:39 Maybe you'll make it one of these years. Speaker 1 00:19:40 I'm, I'm nine, nine years into a 10 year town. <laugh>, they'll be tenured. Speaker 2 00:19:45 It's a good song. Speaker 3 00:19:46 Ding ding ding. Speaker 1 00:19:47 Yeah, it is. Speaker 3 00:19:49 Um, oh, so also you were in Key West the year before and that's when I'd say like, we kind of really got close to you guys, would you say? Speaker 2 00:19:58 Yeah. Right. For sure. <laugh> Speaker 3 00:19:59 Like, that's when like we all degenerated together. You Speaker 2 00:20:02 Know, QS will bring faults together. Speaker 1 00:20:05 Yeah. Or apart, but yes. Mainly, mainly together. Speaker 2 00:20:08 Yeah. I almost got disengaged, however you would say that unengaged <laugh> this year. I was like, oops, I'll kill you. But, uh, no, it's great. Uh, we, we had a great time that last year. Speaker 1 00:20:21 Oh, alcohol <laugh>. And Speaker 3 00:20:22 Then one of my, when I first moved here, one of my like first house parties that we had during Covid. Oh yeah. You guys came over and I dressed you guys up in some fun stuff. Speaker 2 00:20:31 I remember we have pictures. I had the George the no-show hat on. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, no Speaker 3 00:20:34 Show Jones. Speaker 2 00:20:35 I love those sunglasses. I just remember, I want a pair of those, the wings, the ray bands. Oh yeah. Do you still Speaker 3 00:20:40 Have them? The big Oh yeah. They're somewhere. I think they're in my car. I Speaker 2 00:20:43 Love those sunglasses. Like ever since I tried yours on that night, you're like, I wore these. I would look at 'em. I was like, Speaker 1 00:20:47 No. Are those like pit vibes or something? Or what? Speaker 3 00:20:49 They're like ray band aviators mixed with like a shield. Speaker 2 00:20:54 They're kind of the shape of those. But they like have Speaker 3 00:20:56 The Yeah, they're like a shield kind of though. And they have like, I call 'em the cocaine glasses. They're like, they're big velvet glasses. Gold frames. Yeah. Dude, for sure. Big velvet would Speaker 1 00:21:05 Wear vest. The Elvis dying on the toilet glasses other. Yes, exactly. Okay. Yes. Speaker 2 00:21:09 And then you had a keg I think. Yeah, that's what we did. But then we also shotgun those IPAs that were like 10%. Yeah. We're, Speaker 3 00:21:17 And that's Speaker 2 00:21:17 What got us. Speaker 3 00:21:18 Yeah. We're not that Speaker 1 00:21:18 Smart. That's not a good idea at all. It's Speaker 3 00:21:20 A great idea Until after though, you know. True Speaker 1 00:21:24 <laugh> Speaker 3 00:21:24 <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:21:25 I had a great time. Speaker 3 00:21:26 We had a really good time. Uh, that was such a fun time though. Like, I feel lucky moving to town then because everyone is that's musicians is on the road so much. So there's not a lot of times where you can get like a crew of folks together. Yep. And during that time, I feel like I had like a cheat code that I got to see. Like we did a whole crew of folks all together for a, a lot of times Speaker 1 00:21:47 I don't think I've ever had, like, I've had people over like, for fire or whatever, or like at per jam or what? I've never just had like a rager in my house. Speaker 2 00:21:56 Oh, well we, um, in our apartment that we were just in that we moved out of, um, we pretty much, we got a letter from the lawyer of the apartment complex, which take a drink before I tell this because I need to Speaker 1 00:22:12 <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:22:12 So basically you want, I want some of this. Okay. Speaker 3 00:22:16 I mean, Speaker 2 00:22:16 Yeah. So basically, you know, we're an apartment. I get it. But we're downtown. We're on eighth Avenue. Oh Speaker 1 00:22:22 Yeah. Tell everyone on the podcast what your address is Speaker 2 00:22:25 Used to be. Do y'all wanna send a bag of shit to the 2300 in Nashville? <laugh>? No, I'm just kidding. Don't do that. Speaker 1 00:22:31 Get some anthrax accent over there or, Speaker 2 00:22:32 Or, uh, <laugh> or do you know? Um, I may have that in the works, but our, it was fine for the first little bit and then we got new neighbors downstairs and so I would go live on TikTok like once a week. It's not like even we're throwing parties really. I mean we were prior to that, but I'm going live on TikTok once a week playing guitar, singing not hooked up to a mic. My guitar's not plugged in. They would scream and beat on the ceiling and be like F you and I'd be like at you. And so one night we were listening to music and we had just got home from the bar. Oh boy. We were listening to Cowi. So I remember it. I remember the song we listening Speaker 1 00:23:05 To. That's how to make you wanna probably fight Speaker 2 00:23:07 A bit. So anyway, and I'm like an asshole sometimes. Anyway, so they, they started <laugh>, they started banging on the ceiling and I started banging. So we were just like yelling at each other. And finally I was like, I'm going down there. Oh God. And uh, at this point I had already took my pants off. I had changed into my three X sleep shirt. And uh, I just, like Ben said, I look feral just running down the hallway and Id go down there Speaker 1 00:23:31 <laugh> Speaker 2 00:23:33 And we've got people over too. So they're like, dude, you need to go after her. So he thought I went upstairs. So he goes upstairs to look for me. I actually went downstairs cuz it was like a whole thing. But anyway, I'm like banging on the neighbor's door. Speaker 1 00:23:46 It wasn't wrong door. Speaker 2 00:23:47 No, they were in there. Oh God. And I heard 'em talking and then all of a sudden it went quiet and I was like, oh, they're in there. I'm about to, I was, I was kept beating on the door. I was like, I just wanna talk, come on out, whatever. And, uh, they did not. But the next day I, the manager of the apartment called and they're like, the downstairs neighbors feel very unsafe and threatened. And I was like, they should cuz they're assholes. <laugh>. Um, so basically they reported us so many times, even reported us once when we, when we weren't home, uh, that we got a letter from the lawyer saying that we were about to be evicted. But good thing our lease was up anyway, so mm-hmm. Speaker 1 00:24:20 <affirmative>. So now you don't live there anymore. Speaker 2 00:24:21 Don't live there anymore. Okay, good. Uh, now you live here. Can't live there anymore actually. So <laugh>, Speaker 3 00:24:27 You'll have that sometimes on the Speaker 1 00:24:29 Yeah. You need a mansion outside of town. Yeah, Speaker 2 00:24:31 I agree. <laugh> Speaker 3 00:24:33 Think Speaker 2 00:24:33 So. We're up in this area now with y'all. Yeah. And uh, our neighbors are awesome. Yeah. Like, everyone's like, oh, you're a musician. Let's have a party. Like, let's come over, let's grill out. You know, everyone's cool, you know. But we had Speaker 3 00:24:43 Some, the people here are super cool. Like the guy across the street is like, ah, I played guitar for years. He like, loves that Ryan has a studio here, you know? Speaker 2 00:24:50 Hell yeah. That's what I'm, that's what I'm looking for. Yeah. These other people. I mean, you moved to downtown Nashville. What'd you expect? Like Yeah, there's gonna be a little music every now and then. There's, Speaker 3 00:24:58 There's some degenerates and some music. That's what you're signing up for. Speaker 1 00:25:01 Well, hopefully when this podcast takes off and is number one in the world, number one, Nikki's gonna buy a trailer park. Yeah. We're all gonna live in it together. Speaker 3 00:25:10 Yeah. They call 'em tiny homes now. We just called it trailers. I, Speaker 2 00:25:13 You know, trailers are nice these days. They Speaker 3 00:25:15 Are super nice. I live Speaker 2 00:25:16 One right now. I live in a single wide same, um, they're, my mom looked at 'em like when she was thinking about moving, I was like, honestly, these are killer. Well Speaker 3 00:25:25 They just made 'em like tiny houses. They just use all the space. Right. Speaker 2 00:25:28 And I opened floor plan. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> is all the difference. Speaker 1 00:25:30 Yep. You sound like H gtv. Uh, there should be a really, really, really, really redneck version of hgtv. That would be hilarious. Speaker 3 00:25:40 Good ideas. I could, Speaker 2 00:25:41 I could get on that. Speaker 1 00:25:42 Yeah. Right. Like they remake your home, but just make it like worse <laugh>. Speaker 3 00:25:46 It'd be like pimp my ride, but of houses. You know what I mean? Like the things that you definitely couldn't use and aren't a good use of money and like, lower the value. That's what they'd be. Hell yeah. I love that Speaker 1 00:25:57 <laugh>. That'd be so funny. Right? Yeah. Speaker 3 00:25:59 I mean, we could do that if we had money to do it, but we don't. So here we are. Yeah. But Speaker 2 00:26:02 Here we are in the bedroom. Speaker 3 00:26:04 Yeah, true. This is a, this is a luxury, uh, podcast studio. I don't know what you're talking about. Speaker 2 00:26:09 I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah. Peep the background. Speaker 3 00:26:11 Yeah, the green area. I mean the mountain range that's in the back. Speaker 1 00:26:17 There's, there's no way you guys are gonna figure out how to work the green screen. Speaker 3 00:26:20 Absolutely not. It's be Taylor Speaker 2 00:26:21 On ground. It's gonna be me then Speaker 3 00:26:23 <laugh>. It's just gonna keep looking A Speaker 2 00:26:25 Party hawk, man. I wish I would've wore a green shirt. That would've been hilarious. Oh, Speaker 3 00:26:28 That would've been great. Dang. Speaker 2 00:26:29 Missed opportunity. Just floating head Red hat Speaker 3 00:26:32 Through. Yep. Speaker 1 00:26:33 That've been unreal. Uh, so, uh, what do you got, you got any shows coming up you wanna talk about or? Speaker 2 00:26:38 Yeah, I got a bunch of shows we're, we're crazy busy this year. Awesome. Just been awesome Speaker 1 00:26:43 Agency. Speaker 2 00:26:44 I have a booking agent and um, it is, yeah. But she's, um, she let me book my own stuff too. It's not like a, can't think of the word Speaker 3 00:26:52 Exclusive Speaker 2 00:26:53 Exclusivity thing, clause. It's not like that. So she books, you know, whatever. And then I book whatever, but this weekend I'm going to be in Kentucky at a, uh, off-road park. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So last time I was at an off-road park. Speaker 1 00:27:06 Can you translate that us for us? Non Speaker 2 00:27:07 Kentucky. So basically it's like a, you know, razors and all the side-by-sides Speaker 1 00:27:12 Hilarious. And ATV four Speaker 2 00:27:14 By four. So it's basically just a bunch of rednecks to get in the mud and drive around. Um, Speaker 3 00:27:18 So is that similar or different to a mud bog? Speaker 2 00:27:21 No, it's pretty much the same. Okay. So I played down in Mississippi. I actually got in a fight at the one that I was at, you Speaker 3 00:27:27 Know, <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:27:29 So I'm trying to stay in less trouble than the last off-road park I played at. But yeah, it's like there's gonna be Fire Fireworks. It's 4th of July weekend, you know, we're gonna be rowdy. What a, you know how it is. I Speaker 1 00:27:39 Know. Yeah. My girlfriend got in a fight on Broadway like two weeks ago. Speaker 2 00:27:42 Yeah. It happens. Broadway. You don't wanna go there. Like if you're not as drunk as the rest of the people on Broadway. Mm-hmm. Speaker 1 00:27:48 She, she was a little bit, but Oh, <laugh>, she won. Speaker 2 00:27:52 Okay. Yeah. Good. I can't wait to hear about that. I'll ask you about that later. Speaker 3 00:27:55 I was like talking to a girl and she was like, I, I'm down on Broadway, it was like 5:00 PM I'm like, y'all have fun. Yeah. I'm not coming down. Speaker 2 00:28:02 Peace out on that. Speaker 1 00:28:03 Same, Speaker 3 00:28:04 If you guys have been out for a long time and I'm talking to you now, I'm not coming down there. Speaker 2 00:28:09 <laugh>. So is she fat with another girl? Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Mm. Speaker 1 00:28:11 Yeah. I guess this girl like cut the line going into a bar and she's like, Hey, what are you doing? Like, you can't cut the line. Like, she goes, well, like, it doesn't matter. Like, it's just gonna be fine. We're all gonna have so much fun in there. And then Colin was like, Ron just gonna have so much fun in there, <laugh>. And she was like, mock me again. And Colin's like, Hey, you gonna have so much fun in there. And the girl's like, mock me one more time. And then Colin's like, we yelled and the girl shoved her and Colin just went Speaker 3 00:28:40 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:28:41 And then she was like, she hit me. Oh my God. Colin was like, yeah. Like, what do you think? Like, get outta my face. Quit shoving me. Speaker 2 00:28:48 I wish I could have seen that. Man, that makes me love her so much more too. I would Speaker 1 00:28:51 Pay so much money for like the, the footage in front of the bar <laugh> Speaker 3 00:28:56 Just watching that go down. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. I, yeah, I do my best to stay away from Broadway after dark. That's like, I would go there during the day and like day drink and stuff. That's Speaker 2 00:29:07 Fun. You know, to me the best day drinking was to go to Paradise Park. Yes. Oh Speaker 1 00:29:12 Six, Speaker 2 00:29:12 A $6 picture. Yeah. And now Garth, Speaker 1 00:29:17 I love you. I Speaker 3 00:29:18 Love you Garth, but I don't love you. I love Garth. You took the six, six star Naty led pictures Speaker 2 00:29:22 Away. I really miss Paradise Park. I like that. It was great. I wanted to go there yesterday and I was like, that Speaker 1 00:29:26 Was the first place I ever played on Broadway. Dang. No Speaker 2 00:29:28 Way. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> Paradise. That's Speaker 1 00:29:31 Awesome. I, it was like, I would drive down there the first time and then I saw how much drinking was going on and I never drove to gigs. I just always would just take an Uber or like ride my bike or something. <laugh> and I would make like $45 and then spend 30 of it on like natural light pitchers. Absolutely. And then go home drunk. What Speaker 3 00:29:51 A blessing though. Speaker 2 00:29:52 It's the best day drinking. Speaker 3 00:29:53 Otherwise you'd spend $95 on natural light. You know, <laugh> Speaker 1 00:29:57 Well yeah. True. Maybe not. Speaker 2 00:29:58 That was a bar downtown that I paid $9 for a bush light at. I will not name any names, but that is just highway robbery. Literally $9 for a, Speaker 1 00:30:08 I didn't even pay for this one. Yeah, Speaker 3 00:30:09 I paid for this one. Oh yeah. Speaker 2 00:30:11 I just walked into Nicky T's fridge and just grabbed this. It's three. Speaker 3 00:30:14 I mean, we have you Hoos and Kool-Aid drinks and bush light. That's, and Speaker 2 00:30:17 Like what else? Speaker 1 00:30:18 One of Speaker 2 00:30:18 These? It was, was, and now we have Where'd the bourbon go? Speaker 1 00:30:21 It's over here. Kurt Speaker 2 00:30:22 Has it. Are you trying to keep it from me? No, you're, you don't wanna get too wild for the podcast. Speaker 3 00:30:25 We've heard that the Jim Beam makes you mean we don't know about the victors, you know, Speaker 2 00:30:28 So I'm not mean <laugh> unless like I'm provoked obviously. Right. But I wrote that song about my mom, Speaker 3 00:30:35 Boy is Speaker 2 00:30:36 Mean. Uh, well she, well yeah, but she can't drink like dark liquor. She just gets off her rocker, dude. Speaker 1 00:30:42 Okay. So what is there like, some scientific reason for that? Because, um, Speaker 2 00:30:47 I really don't know. Speaker 1 00:30:48 We were all doing, we were doing the pre-show shots and Kojo was joining us and he was like, oh, like I don't drink whiskey. Like it gets me fighting mad or whatever. I'm like, what is it? Is it just like a mental thing or like, Speaker 2 00:31:01 I don't know, but you can tell like it's a flip of the switch. And she's like, Speaker 3 00:31:05 I've heard people say that about tequila too. They're like, tequila makes me, Speaker 1 00:31:08 Tequila makes, well Speaker 2 00:31:09 Tequila I feel great. Speaker 3 00:31:10 Yeah. I, I like really shitty tequila or really, really good tequila. Speaker 2 00:31:14 Well, tequila's an upper right. That's like the only alcohol that's, Speaker 1 00:31:18 I think all alcohol is a downer. I think Speaker 3 00:31:19 I've heard people say that. I'm not sure if it's true or not. Internet. Is that true? Please tell us. Speaker 2 00:31:24 <laugh>, someone verified. We'll Speaker 1 00:31:25 Have to do an experiment. So we'll just sit in a room, we a couple bottles and then we'll just taste test and see what happens. Speaker 3 00:31:32 That sounds like a blessed day. Let's do it this weekend. Okay. <laugh>? Speaker 2 00:31:36 Uh, can I come? Yes, Speaker 3 00:31:37 Absolutely. Yeah. We're having it at your house Bush. Oh, bush light. Speaker 1 00:31:41 Bush light is a upper. Speaker 3 00:31:42 Yeah. For me at least. Speaker 2 00:31:43 Yeah, for sure. Maybe Speaker 3 00:31:45 I just like beer because I get way too full before I get super drunk and outta hand. Speaker 2 00:31:51 Yeah. You know, taste good. Does it keep you from drinking more because you get so full? Speaker 3 00:31:54 Yeah. I mean, look at this belly. It only, it, it fits a lot but like, once it's full, it's full. You know, Speaker 1 00:32:00 It's true. Speaker 3 00:32:01 I'd, I don't know, I just, I like that I've tried doing like the whiskey straight or whiskey on rocks. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I just get all sorts of twisted up and nobody likes that. Everybody's happier when I'm not blackout drunk. <laugh> like literally Speaker 2 00:32:14 Everyone I've been doing, uh, Tito's water lately just cuz I'm trying to watch the health. But, uh, that Speaker 3 00:32:20 Cleans out the liver. Speaker 2 00:32:22 So I'll put like, you know, the little squirty things that is like zero Cal? Yes. Mio, yeah's Speaker 3 00:32:26 Those Speaker 2 00:32:26 A blessing. Um, and it makes it taste like lemonade. Yeah. And it's just bad because I'm shot, I'm like beer for beer with a tall Tito's water, like with everybody else. And I'm like, they're like, oh, you want another one? I'm like, yeah, but they've just had a beer and I've just had mm-hmm. <affirmative> four shots of Tito's. And it's like, Speaker 3 00:32:44 Well, that's how you get the motor running as I like to say. True. Speaker 2 00:32:47 I like it. But yeah, it got me in trouble the other night, so Speaker 3 00:32:51 You didn't have three or four instead of 12, you know? Speaker 2 00:32:53 See, so you don't do that? I don't, I can't do that. I don't operate that way. Speaker 1 00:32:57 This will never let you down. Speaker 2 00:32:58 Yeah, it never has. It has never. And it never will. Never Speaker 3 00:33:00 Parts never <laugh>. We, we do love this Speaker 1 00:33:03 Great taste. And, uh, high Drinkability was that, maybe that was a Bud Light. I, I forget. I don't Speaker 3 00:33:09 Know. Yeah. Close enough. Um, all right. So how about you talk to us about how did you get involved with the six 15 House? Well, first of all, why don't you explain like what that is and how you got involved? Yeah. I don't Speaker 1 00:33:18 Think I know like, wasn't Ashley Cook in that or something? Someone was telling me about this. I don't really know. I Speaker 3 00:33:24 Don't know all the details. Content, Speaker 2 00:33:25 Friends. I don't remember how I, well, first of all, it's a content house mm-hmm. <affirmative> that basically just a bunch of artists go to and we will make content all day long. Speaker 1 00:33:38 Who pays for the house? Speaker 2 00:33:40 So it's actually in Reba's old mansion on Old Hickory. Just, I mean, it's probably 45 minutes from here. But, um, they have a team and I think, and I'm not sure if they have an investor or whatever, but they have like a thing worked out where we are there every Monday and Tuesday of the month to film content. So like, I'm free to go on either day and just hang out, whatever. And we kinda schedule it out and kind of make plans as to what we want to do and come in with ideas. And then we'll kinda have a team meet and brainstorm like what we're gonna do. And then we break off into groups or just do a full group thing and just do like covers and just like, funny content. Speaker 1 00:34:17 Just like a bunch of other singers and stuff. Yeah. You guys will like some doodles sing a song. You'll sing a harmony Yeah. Kind of thing. Speaker 2 00:34:24 Or Yeah. Or someone like play a chord and be like, Hey, what song? Like just play for chords and you try to sing a bunch of different songs. Mm-hmm. Like, we'll do like, and then we'll do like battles, like mashup battles with each other and stuff. So it's just like TikTok stuff, you know? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:34:38 Yeah. Interesting. It's like summer camp, kind of like for artists. Speaker 2 00:34:42 Yeah. So there's a, I think there's 10 of us, like full-time artists now and we also have a studio now. And there's a lot of other stuff that's in the works that I don't know if I'm supposed to talk about. But, uh, it's, it's cool. It's fun. Like they, um, I've got a lot of trickle down followers from it, like coming over to my page and getting to hang out with those guys. So it's pretty fun. Um, I enjoy it. Speaker 1 00:35:02 How do people follow you on the internet? Oh, Speaker 2 00:35:05 Not the shameless social plug. No, Speaker 1 00:35:07 There's a little bit of shame, but it's okay. Speaker 2 00:35:09 I will shame myself every time. Yes, please. Taylor Austen die, uh, everywhere. Honestly, I keep it simple. So it's on TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat. D Speaker 1 00:35:19 D Y e Speaker 2 00:35:20 Die with a y, not with an eye baby. Yeah. <affirmative>. That's what I say. Speaker 3 00:35:24 I like that Speaker 1 00:35:25 <laugh>. That was nice. Speaker 2 00:35:26 So that's literally like all my social media is that, so I try to keep it Funny story though. When I first came to town, I was just going by Taylor Dye and y'all know that the girl from Maddie and Tay, her name is also Taylor Dye. So I would charge these rounds and people would be like, I Speaker 1 00:35:39 Did not know that. Speaker 2 00:35:40 Who the fuck are you? And I'd be like, Taylor die. And they're like, you're not Taylor Dye. I'm Oh, well glad you're happy to see me. Uh, anyway, uh, so any, yeah. Um, started going by my full name after I li I actually released a single underneath Taylor Dye and, uh, no one ever knows about it, but Speaker 1 00:35:56 Secret. It's Speaker 2 00:35:57 A secret. If y'all wanna check it out now, everyone know it's called Bad Habits under Taylor Die. Mm. Looking seductively into the camera, but <laugh>. Yep. Taylor Austen. Die everywhere. Check it Speaker 1 00:36:06 Out. Yeah. Very cool. Very cool. That's awesome. Uh, Speaker 3 00:36:10 Have you booked your Key West Room for next year? Speaker 2 00:36:12 I have not. Speaker 3 00:36:14 I was thinking about it. It's Speaker 1 00:36:15 Like, it was like a month ago. I Speaker 3 00:36:16 Know. I'm ready to Speaker 2 00:36:17 Go back. I'm doing St. Augustine songwriters though. Oh yeah. And that one is very fun. Speaker 1 00:36:20 Wait, what? There's a St. Augustine one. Oh Speaker 3 00:36:22 Yeah. Oh yeah. There's a bunch of 'em. Speaker 2 00:36:24 It's uh, this one's fun. Um, Arla Albritton, I don't know if you know him. He puts it on. Mm-hmm. He's a songwriter as well. But it's, I did it last year. It was very fun. Um, big turnout. Speaker 1 00:36:34 I just, my, I just put my Gary Indiana songwriters fest. Oh Speaker 3 00:36:37 Hell. <laugh> Speaker 2 00:36:39 Roll your windows up. Speaker 3 00:36:41 I think. Uh, key West Songwriters Fest is doing one somewhere on the East coast in the north. Uh, the people that run that. Interesting. And I know a bunch of other ones. There's one at Lake Martin mm-hmm. <affirmative> that hit us up and was trying to get us to come down Speaker 2 00:36:53 And like, hang out for, for him. I think Josh Caer on that one. Maybe. I think I just saw his post about that. Maybe. Speaker 3 00:36:58 Yeah. But man, it's, if, if any of 'em are as fun as Key West, I'll go For sure. That was, Speaker 2 00:37:04 Well I, I think it's like my favorite year. I'll tell you one thing. I had to scrape Ben off a sidewalk last year at St. Augustine. Oh. And me and Keith Anderson cried for about an hour together. So Speaker 3 00:37:14 Like a good cry. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:37:15 We had a very hardy cry. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:37:17 Like a good cry. That's the kind we like. Speaker 2 00:37:19 Yeah. But it, no, it's always fun. So what is your, I'm looking forward Speaker 3 00:37:22 To it. What is your most rowdy show you've ever played? Like, Speaker 2 00:37:27 As far as the crowd or as far as me? Cuz that could go different. <laugh>. Let's, let's do both. Speaker 3 00:37:32 <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:37:33 Uh, no, honestly, um, when I, when I opened for Winona, like back in April, this is really not a rowdy venue at all. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. It was actually Ro Valley where I started playing when I was five. So I got to like, go back and do the whole thing. But that's so awesome. Uh, my fans were standing up in the aisles, like with their beers and like, this is not like a thing you do today. Speaker 1 00:37:53 It's a theater, right? Speaker 2 00:37:54 It's a, yeah. It's like a 1500, 2000 seat theater. And those security guards were having to like usher people back to their seats. And I was like, it's my ride or dies out there. Hell yeah. Love that. Love that. That was fun. Yeah. But I mean, for me, like that was, you know, in the place you shouldn't really be doing that. They were doing it anyway. And I just loved it. You know? Speaker 3 00:38:12 That's so on brand though, for you, right? Speaker 1 00:38:15 That's Speaker 3 00:38:15 Perfect. Yeah. Like that's perfect. Speaker 2 00:38:17 Yeah. Yeah. That's Speaker 3 00:38:18 Gonna be Speaker 2 00:38:18 What you want. The fans understand what to do, you know? Yeah. They understand the assignment. Speaker 1 00:38:23 I gotta tell you guys, the drunkest I've ever been on stage, tell a story. Let's Speaker 2 00:38:26 Hear it. I would love to hear Speaker 1 00:38:27 It. That's a little embarrassing. But, um, so I was playing a radio show when I was playing guitar for Michael Ray in Spokane, Washington. And it was when the Cubs won the World Series and he's a Cubs fan. So we went to a bar beforehand to watch the show, but because of like the time, like we weren't playing late and the game started early. And so we were at this bar like way before 10 o'clock Showtime and, uh, like Speaker 2 00:38:54 10:00 AM or pm? PM Okay, good. Speaker 1 00:38:57 And, um, so we're, you know, we're having a, you know, I'm drinking like a light beer, probably like a Bush Light or Miller Light or whatever. And the radio rep Ray, which is great, I love Ray. He was like, oh, like he was a, maybe he was a Cubs fan too. He's like, oh, let's do a shot or whatever. I was like, okay, cool. Well that happened a few times. And then we get to the venue and there's some fans like in the Green Room and they're like, oh, let me buy you a shot. I was like, okay. And like, I should have, it was acoustic show Mike, uh, on guitar, me on guitar. And then we hit our drummer playing Caj Home. And I was hammered on stage <laugh>. I hadn't, I didn't even realize it. And we were playing a cover, we were playing like some Randy Travis like medley or something. And I was doing the, when you have to wink and to kind of look down at your guitar kind of thing. One Speaker 2 00:39:48 Eye luck, Speaker 1 00:39:49 <laugh>. And I remember Michael on stage being like, Hey, can I get some more drums in his monitor? And he pointed at me cuz I was playing. So at a time, <laugh>. And, and this was a while ago, apparently on the way out, um, I, there was like this, uh, guy working in the venue like Sage hammer or something. He was eating a hamburger and I was like, Hey, can I get a bite of that? And he was like, no. But I don't remember him saying no, I, I just remember me taking a bite out of his hamburger. <laugh> just what a, just like such a, like a piece of shit. And uh, the next morning, like the drummer was like, Hey man, like you had a good time last night. And I was like, yeah, that was a great show. He goes, what was it? I was like, then it hit me. I was like, oh no, uhoh mm-hmm <affirmative>. And I talked to him, I'm like, Hey dude. He's like, it's okay. Just don't ever do that again. <laugh>. I was like, okay. Speaker 2 00:40:39 Noted <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:40:40 And I was like on Craigslist, like looking for jobs. Like I can cut some lawns, Speaker 2 00:40:44 Probably Speaker 3 00:40:46 Brutal. The drunkest I've ever saw you play was, uh, Speaker 1 00:40:51 Oh God. When Speaker 3 00:40:51 You played one song with Luke on your birthday. Speaker 1 00:40:54 Oh well that doesn't Cows my Speaker 2 00:40:55 Birthday. <laugh>, birthdays, holidays. That does not ask. Luke Speaker 1 00:40:58 Had such a great night, man. That was fun. I made it through the one song. Yeah. Kurt Speaker 3 00:41:02 Didn't know he was gonna play and he was taking photographs and we were feeding him shots all night. It was at the round. Oh nice. And then Luke jumped up and played and the last song, he's like, Kurt, you wanna play this one with me? And he was like, uh, yeah. Yeah. And he was just doing everything he could to focus enough to get through this Speaker 1 00:41:17 Song. I was, but he's played a Speaker 3 00:41:18 Thousand times, you Speaker 1 00:41:19 Know, I was like, let's play Best of Me cuz it's the easiest one, I think <laugh>. And I was like, man, we did it so great. All as well. That ends well. Yeah, Speaker 2 00:41:28 Dude, I got the hiccups on stage one time I was so drunk. Oh God, that's embarrassing. And it really, I didn't really, I was determined to get through it cuz we only had like three more songs left. So I was just like, like every few seconds <laugh>, Speaker 3 00:41:42 That's like a Loony Tunes or something. Speaker 2 00:41:44 No, it was literally embarrassing because we were, we were in Ohio and I had a lot of fans come out to the show, you know, from TikTok and TikTok. I, it's like a shotgun house. So I walked through and like, by the time I got to the stage, I had a arm full of beers and there was 13 shots sitting on the stool. Speaker 3 00:41:59 Oh no. Speaker 2 00:42:00 So, you know, we drunk the beers, did the shots done. But then by the end of the night I was like, r you know, trying to get through mean. And Ben just looks at me, he goes, you're done. And I was like, no. And he was like, yeah, we're, he's like a literally unplugged my guitar <laugh>. Speaker 3 00:42:19 That's it guys. All right. All right. Was he playing drums? Speaker 2 00:42:21 That's all folks? Uh, yeah, he was playing drums and he, I mean he was drunk too, but I was just like beyond, I was on another level. I was just, that was kind of embarrassing looking back on it. Was Speaker 3 00:42:31 It like a private show or Speaker 2 00:42:32 A Oh no, no. Mm-hmm <affirmative>. It was at a bar in Miamisburg, Ohio. Oh yeah. Called Good Time Charlie. Shout out y'all love y'all. But I got drunk that one time. I apologize. You're Speaker 3 00:42:40 Just gonna have to go back there and play again. Speaker 2 00:42:42 No, they wanted me back. I was like, y'all are idiots. Why do you want me back? <laugh>. That's Speaker 3 00:42:46 Great. That's that's very funny. Well cuz you're a good time. And honestly like, it's funny because people are like, uh, what makes the bar want you back? If the people are drinking, they want you back. Speaker 2 00:42:57 <laugh>. Well, and drinking, we were Speaker 3 00:42:59 <laugh> the bar was probably triple what it is on a normal act, you Speaker 2 00:43:02 Know. So the time we actually did go back after that and we got there and the bartender was like, yeah, they told us to order an extra bottle of bullet because y'all were coming. And I was like, all right, <laugh>, Speaker 3 00:43:12 Our reputation precedes Speaker 2 00:43:14 Us. Yeah. Yep. Speaker 3 00:43:15 Yep. I freaking love that. Well I appreciate you coming out and I can't wait to see and hear you and Kurt play song. Let's Speaker 2 00:43:23 Do it. Let's Speaker 3 00:43:23 Rock. Speaker 2 00:43:25 We need to re-up on my beard. Speaker 3 00:43:26 Yeah. We're gonna drink a bush light. Maybe we're shotgun. One in the middle and then give you time to like breathe. Oh hell yeah. You knows you're gonna be like <laugh> <laugh> get the good hiccups gone. But Speaker 2 00:43:37 Uh, not until maybe a couple hours from now. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:43:39 That's the way to do it. <laugh>. But tell 'em uh, what song they should pay to download right now on your iTunes. Speaker 2 00:43:46 Well, you know, I got like six singles out. I'm working on a full album. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. But I think Water Me Down's my most popular song. So if you like to go with the flow, go with the trend. Water me Down and me and Kurt might play that. Kurt, you played on that one. Yeah, let's play it. Okay, cool. Let's do it. Heck, heck yeah. Speaker 3 00:44:03 Me down <laugh> <laugh>. Well, I'm Nikki T I'm Kurt Ozon Speaker 2 00:44:08 And I'm Teyl Austin Dye. Don't forget me. Yeah, Speaker 3 00:44:11 That's right. And we'll see you in the front row. We sure will. Yeah, Speaker 4 00:44:14 Right. Woo. There's a lot of things in common Speaker 2 00:44:20 Between Speaker 4 00:44:21 Me and you can never handle your whiskey and you could ever handle me and can't forget how and so don't ask honey. Don't that full strength. No, I don't want you heavy and if ain't real careful on the floor and but that pound in your chest will be there long after I'm gone. Don't ask don't baby, don't can try chase me. But you won't ever, you can replace won't. So don't ask I'm me down. Speaker 0 00:47:05 Oh man, Speaker 4 00:47:05 Let's go.
